why o why didn't i take the blue pill?

are we in the matrix or what? i mean one tree must make one year supply of guitar bridges.

unless gibson is into building high luxury condos using exotic woods i do not think that they would damage any environment, since they use regulated types of wood for the body of the guitars.

wow, i wonder if they will go after mercedes benz, audi and bentley after, for using real leather and real wood?

This is incredibly disturbing. Our country is truly doomed if we continue to allow the depth and scope of this government to expand.

Many of whom are legally 'tone deaf' and don't even play that well! I remember an old professor saying that the worst thing that ever happened in the U.S. was when, in the 60s and 70s, everybody thought they could or should play a guitar!

Gibson Guitars soon to be the next made in China product. Thanks Government. Isn't there some more important things you should be working on. It's funny how much effort they put in to track illegal wood but not illegal people.

Yes, it's illegal because the government in Madagascar says it is. Are you people saying that Madagascar doesn't have the right to control what happens within it's borders, or that we should just ignore anyone breaking their laws because because it's not our problem?

On top of that, Gibson is actually a member of the Rainforest Alliance, which is actually supposed to be preventing this sort of stuff. So much for that. Guess that partly explains which Gibson is ranked as one of the worst places to work in the US.

I also hate how they bought, and completely ruined, Kramer Guitars, which used to be my favorite.

Hopefully this doesn't get too a political or it will have to go....better venting elsewhere IMO.

Where did you all get the Justice Department from?

It's clearly stated in the original article that it was the United States Fish and Wildlife Department looking for evidence in violation of the Lacey Act. The same department that investigated Gibson, for the same thing, in 2009.

For this kind of totalitarian garbage and for giggles, I'm having my luthier build my next guitar using nothing but wood from endangered trees, the nut and saddle from African ivory and a strap out of baby Harp Seal. I kid, for all the spooks listening in on the conversation it's just a joke. F&cking fascists. Maybe this is just payback for developing that ridiculous Firebird X.

Madagascar certainly has a right to control what goes on in their borders, but this is now extending into our borders. If Madagascar has a problem with this and wants our government to be involved, then they should be prepared to pay up the money necessary to go after Gibson. However, I don't support using my tax dollars for such a useless cause.

This is very distasteful to me, Gibson is being abused by our government. We are being fleased for trillions and this is being done either to divert our attention from the real problem or this is just a symtom of the probem, not sure. Is there any hope for us?

Gibson guitars, garage salers, lemonaide stands.....Yeah, nothin' like going after those big law breakers....while illegals run around unafraid of any prosecution, government selling guns south of the border, but those lemonaide stands and Gibson guitars, thats the real threat to out nation.

Oh, you mean like preventing illegal imports and enforcing laws against illegal imports? Because the logging and exporting is illegal there, importing the wood is illegal here. Wouldn't that fall under the category of enforcing our border as well?
