Anyone have any recommendations for a good sounding cd changer? I know about the Adcom stuff, have read good things about the Arcam MCD...all of the ESD's by Sony are single play. It needs to have a co-ax digi out also...

Find a used Rotel 5 disc changer or if you want a Megachanger look into Pioneer Elite or Sony ES.

Convert all of your CDs to FLAC and run them from a HTPC. It doesn't have to be a fancy new PC either. An older one that you can get for next to nothing will suffice.

Remove everything from it except the operating system and a media player and it will perform good enough. Then you can just put your CDs away in storage.

My HTPC "CD Changer" can hold over 100,000 discs as well as the complete album artwork.

If it were me, I'd go with the Rotel.

    ^ This.

I have a HTPC which serves as an access point for all my music and movies from my main rig. However, I'm not sure (95% of all music files are 320kbps MP3) if streaming the music over the network and through HDMI off my GPU is the best option. I almost want to experiment with a dedicated sound card with Toshlink digital out to my receiver. Just for movies with HD audio, this isn't a feasible option.

Controlling it also isn't my preference... It's difficult to navigate as I use Zune client software to manage and play using a Logitech Dinovo Mini. It's actually more difficult then stick in a disc and hitting play. However for efficiency, the HTPC wins.

I used the California Audio Labs CL-10 for a while, which was a very good sounding unit, but recently sold it in favor of using the sqeezebox and converting my CD to FLAC, as suggested by some others.

I'd do this in a heart beat but have no idea what many of your terms even mean. I also wish that someone would make a simple music server that doesn't cost over $2000.

How simple is this to operate?
Can I scroll with a remote all the titles and/or artists?
Can I sort by CDs by groups?
Can I output a video image of the CD playing to a TV?

Is there a step by step artcile that explains how to do this to a computer?

    Thanks
