The pic is real, not of a hurricane though. If it was a hurricane, think about the waves a little bit....

That's just a big rotating thunderstorm out at sea.

Killer pic, you see stuff like that fairly often around my neck of the woods.

    Cheers,

But it wasn't a dream -- it was a place. And you -- and you -- and you -- and you were there.

Home! And this is my room -- and you're all here! And I'm not going to leave here ever, ever again, because I love you all!
And -- Oh, Auntie Em -- there's no place like home!

That pic kind of reminds me of that movie The Fog. Looks like a big wall of death rolling in over the water.

If you were not used to seeing anything like, you would probably think the end was near, especially being out at sea like that.

Trey, gotta love those reporters! Out there in that stuff telling us what we've known for several days. "duhhh...looks like we gots ourselves a hurricane sit-eee-ation here folks!" WOOOSH...on his arse! Away goes several thousand $$$$ in camera equipment.

Yet another weather channel guy was getting sand blasted in the face while reporting from a beach. He had to report with his eyes closed. At the end, he asked for someone to send his some goggles!
    No excuses!

Right when I saw that pic, I thought "The Perfect Storm". Kinda looks like a scene from that movie.

2+ cups? I think we are talking a few Starbucks Grandes' here! So far, medium winds, steady rain and a wet back from tying everything down. Still a few hours before we can rest easy though. (Calm down Doro!)

Hope everyone doing well in NC. I was in Raleigh last week, almost have to go there again this week, but ended up in Huntsville instead. Right now waiting for my flight and noticed that all flight out to Dulles were cancelled since 6pm PST (there were three flights back to back on the hour. These are 747's that usually packed on Thursday nights, coast-to-coast commute. No wonder there are lots of long faced United gate agents tonight!
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

We managed to survive. No big deal for us. Lots of rain and wind. No downed trees from what I can see. We still have power.

Unfortunately, people closer to the water didn't fair so well. In my 36 years of living here, I've never seen the water this high.

I took some pics, but I'm going to wait a couple of days for the water to go back down so I can get some pics of what it looks on a normal day. I know it has to be atleast 12 - 15 ft above normal, possibly more.

News shots of downtown Baltimore are amazing!

Glad you're in good shape John, I hope other Club members fared as well.

At 15' above normal water would almost be to my 2nd floor...

Checking in from upstate New York:

Light rain and wind gusts are picking up. We are expecting 40-50 mph gusts and 1-2" of rain. Nothing we haven't seen before.

The mighty ice storms of '91 and '03 were far worse.

Unfortunately guys, Isabel DID pack one very serious thing...storm surge.

My sister's boyfriend has a home down on the water front in an inlet right on the Chesapeake Bay. Needless to say, practically everything he owned is destroyed. Had about 8 feet of water in his home. My sister lives with him. Her car was parked in the driveway. A couple of boats were washed up and smashed into it, yep while the car was almost underwater.

Looks like the water has gone back down, so I'll be out there in a little while taking some shots of a normal water level. You'll see what I mean!

Mark, it didn't seem like much around your way, but the storm surge did some major damage in low level areas. Again, that aspect of the storm was bad. Although, it could have been even worse had it not speeded up.
    No excuses!

Well guys, I'm back. Just as Doro had made arrangements for me to have power, the power I pay for came back on. I would like to thank him and say if it wasn't for this forum I would have never met this good friend of mine. I owe you bro!

    John,

If there is anything I can do to help with your sister's situation, please let me know.

    Tour,

High and dry, there was no way Isabel was going to eff with the CA's.

I know there are some forum members that live in VA. They got hit hard over there. I wish the best for them.
