i recently upgraded to rti series and I sold my RT55i's.....
i shipped in original polk packaging but on arrival the buyer said the woofers weren't working on one of the speakers?
he said he heard rattling inside the cabinet and upon opening cabinet he noticed that the wiring to the woofers was disconnected.
he re-connected the wiring but still nothing from the woofers.

He was bi-amping..not sure if that could cause any issues if bi-amped with gold jumpers still connected?

Most likely damaged in shipping and not user error.....can anyone help me to help this guy?

First why not sell them here first?, Second those speakers are big heavy bookies and you should have double boxed them with added padding inside. I owned a set of those and I would have never trusted the original box to ship them in. Bi-amping with the gold jumpers in place is a no no but it sounds as if the speaker was already troubled. I would have him send them back and just refund him his money..

Sorry to hear about those fine speakers. good luck!!!

I didnt sell them here because the last time I tried to sell them on here (maybe 2yrs ago) nobody snagged them...and I wasnt asking for too much IMO
Next time I will double box though
But any idea on how to fix the actual problem or what could be wrong?
He's saying he's getting nothing at all from the woofers...they aren't even trying to kick

Could bi-amping with the jumpers have caused that problem?

It sounds like he may have created the problem.

What about connecting them to a single amplifier, with the jumpers in place and NOT in place?
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Lol....what could have happened though...could the woofers really be blown from incorrect amping? I dont see how in shipping the woofers could blow?

It's very possible with vintage Polk's but usually more vintage than the RT55i. Those have a far better track record as I only recall one since 2003.

sounds like a guy wanting to scam you.

Have him send you the speakers back.

But first ask if the cones push in or not. They flexed when you sent them, he should know more about speakers and it sounds like he's playing dumb.

He might have fried them and wants you to pay for his stupidity!
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

That crossed my mind ...believe me...I talked to the guy over phone and he sounds legit(not that that means anything)
But he didnt sound like he wanted to return...he was gonna take them to a repair shop and have them take a look
And yes they worked beutifully when i sent

You could also have him swap a driver into the other speaker.

I am the individual who bought the speakers and i can tell you that i had everything wired correctly, because one of the speakers performed beautifully when connected to either the right or left channel of my receiver. As soon as i picked up the speaker i could hear something loose in the cabinet. After opening up the cabinet i discovered that the two magnetic backs to the woofers were both lying at the bottom. I reattached them and then reconnected the speakers and again got nothing from the woofers. I DID NOT bi-amp the speakers with the gold jumpers attached. I resent being referred to as a scammer by another poster above. I am very knowledgeable when it comes to speakers and i genuinely want to keep these in my possession. As i said before, one of the speakers works perfectly on both the left and the right channel so i know i had the wiring correct. I am waiting to hear from Polk on possible replacement woofers.
