Brand new, purchased 07/16 and setup this past weekeknd, however, I cannot feel, see or hear bass coming out of the subs on either RTI A7. Any suggestions? The highs and mids seem to be coming through loud and clear from what I can tell. I checked to make sure the bridge/jumpers are in place and making contact with both posts and have tried running into both the bottom and top posts. Will it damage the speakers to take off the bridge and only use the bottom posts to see if the subs respond? I emailed tech support and they told me to "take out the speakers in question" and send them to CA. I don't really want to do that until I exhaust all other options. Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are no subs on the RTiA7 but you should certainly have solid bass response from that loudspeaker.

There's no need to send them to CA as of yet, since we haven't even diagnosed the problem. That's not logical advice from Customer Service.

You need to ensure that the settings on your Onkyo are correct first.

    Keep the jumpers in place.

I'd suggest you reset your Onkyo to factory defaults as I doubt you have settings that you can't dial back in when we figure out what's wrong. Check your manual for that process, it's easy.

Just play stereo music with heavy bass that you know very well....with NO HT and NO Surround settings at all, just two speakers, left and right.

    What do you get?

I've asked Fred D. from Polk Audio CS to personally come in here and help. Along with the great crew we have here already, we'll figure out what the issue is in short order. Check back tomorrow if not tonight.

You can remove the jumpers and connect the wires to the bottom post without damaging anything and see if there's any sound coming from the woofers. Also look at the xover settings as BRun suggests.

I'm going to need to check the manual. I'm not sure where to find that on the setup menu

Crossover is set to 80Hz (front, center, surround). I'm guessing I should I change this to "full band" for the front? I notice that when I select "full band" for the front, it now gives me a double bass option on the menu. Not sure if I should go with "on" or "off (THX)"? Also, I see a LPF for LFE setting that is currently at 120Hz. Not sure what that even means so I guess I won't play with it for now. Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to run a sound check since it's already 11:30pm and I don't want to wake the neighbors.

Try both ways. Do everything you can, just keep track of what you did and post it here so we know what's been tried. OK?

LFE = Low Frequency Effects. It is the .1 in a 5.1 or 7.1 sound track. You want it set to 120 hz. If you set it any lower then your purly cutting out any LFE sounds above what you set it to. The AVR will not re route sound above the LFE setting to the towers.

The double bass option allows the subwoofer to play allong with the towers (like if your listing to a 2.0 stereo sound track). If you turn it off then the only bass you will hear come out of the sub is the .1 from a 5.1 or 7.1 sound track.

Try setting the towers to full range. You should then be able to see the drivers moving and feel air rushing in and out of the bottom port.

Actually reference level calibration is 80hz and with a tower loudspeaker such as the MON70, this is totally fine. Now we're kind of talking about two different things here Jbooker and I know what you mean, just saying.

I think he needs to get everything physically setup, then start tweaking the settings and dialing it all in right.

Thanks again for the assistance guys. This definitely was a user error on my part and no fault of the Polk RTI A7's. Once I changed the crossover setting to "full band" on the receiver, the missing bass from the woofers found it's way into my home.
