So using that Adcom 5400 with HK254 should be good with RTi10's? Will this setup allow me to run a little higher volumes without causing damage to the speakers? Thanks

    The simple answer is yes.

The main worry with just the HK isn't really the volume it's clipping. Pushing an amplifier to its edge of what it can is bad because of the clipped signal that come out of it.

By adding an amp, the HK will be used mainly as a Pre / Pro for this pair of speakers. The amp will be supplying the power. I suspect that your actual volume setting will be reduced for the listening level you are seeking (compared to what it would be with the HK).

Seems like a soild 125 watts, that is not bad at all. That will beat out many AVR's. The RTi10's will sound better and give a noticeable increase in volume because you have more than doubled the power going to them.

If the price is right, do it.

I think the reason I'm not getting volume here is because of the size of room. It's 12x28 x 14 ft ceiling so it may be hard to fill up. I'm using a 5.1 setup in my den 12x16 useing 2RM8's , RM 8 center and 2 RM7's as surround with a 50watt sub Run by a sony 775 watt avr. it's actually seems louder than the living room.

1st the amp should make a huge improvement in projected sound. It will also sure up the mids and lows for those speakers. Something receivers seem to miss. The room size is a big hurdle but not insurmountable. A couple quick questions.

How far from the speakers do you sit?

How far apart from each other are the speakers?

Is there a wall directly behind the listening position or is there space?

12x28 is like a cavern especially with a 14ft ceiling. Which way are you setup? Speakers in the 12ft wall or 28ft wall?

Speakers are on the 12ft wall with the couch 14ft from the fronts and 14 ft open behind
the couch. the ceiling actually slopes from 8ft to the left up to 14 ft to the right with a open hull up at that level.

Here's the Room I'm trying to fill. It's like 14ft from the front speakers or 17ft from wall behind speakers, and 10-11ft behind me. ceiling slopes from left side 8ft up to top of hallway 14ft.

Wow, that's a lot of space. And I thought my room was large. Your HK wasn't designed to fill a room like that. One thing that might help is to move the couch closer to the screen. That will help a little. An amp really will do wonders in a space like that.

She only left you with one option then, bigger TV and Amps!!

Just tell her it's all her fault. It should go over well.

I would spread the Mains apart also. At least a foot wider per side. You have them focused at such a small angle that you will never get a true sound stage from there. I would almost corner them and angle them into the room.

I would also inch the couch closer a little everyday or so until it is in the sweet spot. If you do it slow enough the Wife will never know. :)

I bet that ups the ante a ton.

By the way, Nice room. Looks comfy.

Agreed with above comments. Split the difference Rodney. Move the TV,speakers, rack, one foot out more from the wall, move the couch 1 foot closer, and get rid of the chair in the corner. Spread those speakers out at least an additional foot on each side. The 12's will need some juice to fill that room bro. Heck, you need a bus transfer to view that TV from that distance.
