One other thing that I didn't see mentioned above. You might want to bring a flashlight and check the surrounds on the drivers very carefully. If they have pinholes or slits in the surround material, that will be a location for air to escape (which may be part of why the PR test is failing). Needing to replace one or two drivers wouldn't be a big deal, but if half or more of the drivers are damaged , that's even more money you're going to have to lay out to get them back to operating correctly...

If the cabinets don't seal well, they are going to sound weak, bass-wise. But, when they are holding their air pressure well and you have them setup correctly, they should have all the bass you will need for 2-channel audio. Those big guys dig DEEP!

Thank you, I hadn't thought of that, and that could become a big issue in cost!

Here's the latest, I emailed the seller this morning and indicated that I wanted to bring a receiver with me and run a test on the speakers. No reply as of yet.
    I will try again tomorrow:rolleyes:
On a brighter note, I did pick up a nice set of SDA 1C Studios for a good price. The seal is good the grills in great shape and the cabinets were near perfect.....until the seller dropped his end:eek: and bent up one of the top back corners:frown:, is there a way to repair MDF?

I just got an email back on the SDA SRS's(I'm almost 100% that they're 1.2TL), I won't be able to "sound" check them until Thursday evening but I'm going to compile a checklist based on the input from you guys, Thank you again, Bill:smile:

D'oh! Did he drop his price after he dropped your new speakers?!?! I would have been pissed if it were me... unless I was the cause of the drop. But man, those aren't even that heavy of speakers. That should be a walk in the park for two people. I took my set of 1C's up a flight of stairs by myself a couple weeks ago. Granted, I was huffing and puffing by the time I was at the top of the stairs. More than anything, 1C's are just bulky. But the big SRS/1.2/1.2tl, yeah, those are HEAVY!

Regarding repairing them, if I recall correctly, some 1C's are glued together. That might make replacement of one panel a pain in the butt (vs. some models that are more modular with bolts). Repairing the existing top would be very difficult to make it look perfect, in my opinion.

Anyway, congrats. 1C's are nice. I really enjoy mine. If the other set is too trashed, don't mess with them. Sit back and enjoy your 1C's until you find a set worth investing in (unless he sells them at a ridiculously low price and you like the challenge of fixing them up).

Have you checked to see if all the drivers still work? Sometimes a magnet can shift in a drop like that.

That's nothing. Whe we were young, we had to carry our SDA-SRS up 100 flights of stairs in a blinding snowstorm. If that wasn't bad enough, we had to shovel the stairs first!:biggrin:

Good call, falconcry. That's definitely something that should be checked, and if more damage was done, you might want to have a chat with the seller...

Hahahaha Good one! You probably carried both of them at the same time too, one over each shoulder, right? LOL

Even a set of 2.3's verge on the impossible (aka stupid) for the average man to carry up stairs, let alone a set of the big SDA-SRS's!

Thanks Alan, I was going to raise a stink (about the drop)but the price was good and the guy was laid off so I didn't want to pile on. All the drive are operational and the cabinet damage wasn't too bad.

Yes, they are operational! Big relief, thank you for pointing that out though, I need to make out a list for when I check the SRS's:eek:

    Good morning,
I put the SRS 1.2 's on the back burner:frown:
Too many issues, cosmetically, mechanically, communications & price.
I want to thank you all for your sharing your knowledge:smile: It really helped me to make the best decision for me at this time.
I will work on my SDA 1's & my CRS's for now.

Since there is no interconnect cable you will need take some bare speaker wire and shove it in the pin portion of the socket on each speaker (no need to insert a wire in the blade portion of the socket). Not sure if you have the time but if you have a soldering iron and solder you can you make an IC cable by using the center pin of an RCA jack (cut off the outer pieces of metal that surround it) and solder the speaker wire to it and insert in the speaker.

Thank you for this tip, I used this on my 1C's that didn't come with an IC:smile:

I'm pretty sure I've got an extra P/B
Cable around here somewhere? I may be willing
To part with it as i will most likely never use it. (my house cannot handle
    Another pair of SDA's)
