Thanks everyone for your opinions, feedback and info...appreciate the time some took to educate me a little bit...After a dedicated 2 channel life I'm ready for my entry into HT....For my brand new, in the box, never used Denon AVR-4308CI are the following that were shipped out yesterday: RTi A9's in CHERRY, CSi A6 in CHERRY, FXi A6's in BLACK of course, DSW PRO 660wi and the PWSK1 WIRELESS SW KIT...All ordered right here from Polk...Thanks Fred (extension 410) Also in route to me are 10 pair of "quality" closed banana plugs, 100' spool of "quality" 14g. OFC speaker wire and threw in a couple 3' high speed HDMI's...all for 49 bucks!!!!! Yeah, you heard right!!...Monoprice.com...GREAT site for all your cables and accessories!!!!

I'm expecting everything Tuesday and Wednesday...It gonna be a beautiful week!!!!! I'll let ya's know how the 4308 pushes the A9's....

Most likely the next thing on my to do list is invest in good quality power for the A9's...and let the Denon take care of the rest!! If anyone has or knows someone that has a nice 2 channel amp for sale, let me know...or any suggestions on a new one are always welcome!!!

Thanks again for the comments...great site here with some very knowledgeable folks...

Sledgehammer462...Dude great trade i say. Please let us know how your Denon sounds with them A9's..I am looking into the LSi M707 for my two channel set-up.But they are not available yet..So i may just get the A9,s myself they are really nice well built speakers and look great too.And i may step up to the H/K7550..i need the pre-amp out on all channels and do like you let the H/K take care of the surrounds..Hi-5 on the trade.

Payed 4k I believe and enjoyed it for a year or two...I didn't know what I was going to do with it upon leaving F-L-A...This neighbor/friend just so happen to put in an order for the Denon stuff and I told him "when it comes, bring it here...I'll trade ya for the tub"...AND HE WENT FOR IT!!! lol...Great trade for me indeed!!

Your A9s are way nicer than my M70s though! ;) I'm more excited to see how they compare against the current HTiaB I have now. Can't wait either, too bad newegg doesn't ship on the weekends. :( Theyre sitting a few miles away from me in a wearhouse and Im not allowed to pick them up.

Congrats!!! Remember the more power you give those A9's the better they will sound, I have the A9's as well and I was shocked at how well they performed with good power. If they had a more musical tweeter they would even be better..

Kazaam..The Monitor 70's are a very musically sounding speaker.I luv them in my two channel set.Are the A9's better yes. Polk design them for that reason the M70's that is.With the cascade array tapered crossover i think you will like them very much as i do.This is way i am having a hard time moving away from them...Toolforlifefan is right on about the A9's..everyone who has them say the samething about the A9's.I hear they kick ****.The oldtimers in here are great..ToolForLifefan...H9..are just some of the oldtimers who have great tips too offer.

    Congrats!

As for an amp to keep your eye out for, stay on the look out for something like a Parasound HCA 1500a. I just put one in my 2ch system and my LSi 9's sound sweet as hell on it.

    Other companies; Adcom, Rotel, Carver...

How big of a room are you using them in?

I would get a at least a 3 channel amp. That way the front sound stage is powered the same so there will be no mis match as voice travels across the front sound stage.

Everything was delivered yesterday by Daylight Transport...perfect condition and perfect delivery!!!...Now waiting today on UPS for the Sanus NF30C 30" stands for the A6's that I ordered from Crutchfield and speaker wire, banana plugs and a couple HDMI's from Monoprice. Went to Home Depot last night and had a custom shelf 52" X 16" made, stained it cherry last night...will install that tonight above the 50" Samsung for the A6 center...I'll be busy all night making the wire runs and the terminations w/ the banana plugs...all should be up n' runnin' by the weekend...I WILL TAKE PICTURES!!

I "may" need some help with setting up the Denon so I may call on some of you guys IF I have any problems...I've been a 2 channel guy my whole life so this 5.1/7.1 stuff with crossover settings and such may be confusing at first....But I'm very excited and looking forward to playin' and tweakin'....

The Para 2250 looks nice for the 9's...readin' the reviews now!!

All my stuff (minus the wire and plugs) has been sitting at home since monday...but im 150 miles away until the weekend. :(

The receiver will be extremely easy to set up, especially since you have Audyssey MultiEQ, so dont worry about it!

Anyone have tips on how long to run the speaker wire? Should i always run it a foot or two above what i need?

Also, do centers sound better, worse, or equal when they are above/below vs direct center?

If not more. I have 5 extra feet for my surrounds and its made life easy.

Equal normally, but I would try it both ways to see which sounds better.

Thanks ender! Its for the fronts. I supposed it would actually be wise to go more than that because if i move them and want to readjust, etc itll be good to have some options.

Yup. I only needed at max 6 feet for my farthest front speaker (amp is on right side, speaker on left side), but I got 11 feet for each of my front 3 speakers for exactly that reason...

Congrats dude, cool to see you so stoked. Since you have the Denon in hand already, best to read through the manual before hand to get a good sense of the setup proceedure. Have fun.

Waiting on UPS for my wire, plugs & cables...any time now this morning...will be wiring this up all day today for some fun tonight!!! lol...But I'll tell ya, reading the Denon's manual...Jeez, this is much different then just my old plug n' play 2 channel days...The Denon looks intimidating as far as setup goes...crossover points, big, large, etc...

QUESTION: HDMI from the HD cable box to the TV/CBL assignable input and then a HDMI from the Denon's #1 Monitor spot to the Samsung...correct??...

Another question: what is the #2 Monitor slot marked "out" on the Denon used for??...
