I have to wonder what you call big $$$$ on cables because I find it hard to believe that after experiencing high end cables you would think Monoprice was acceptable.

Hard to believe ay???...what do you think I'm pullin' ya leg here man??...When I was putting together my two channel system some 25+ years ago I went with all Audioquest (the new and hottest cable kids on the block at that time) interconnects & cables...and NOT the entry level Audioquest stuff neither!! By the time I was done I spent more money on wire then I did on some of the components themselves...All Bryston, Theta & Mirage by the way...The system I'm putting together at the moment for my Jersey house is a very nice HT system (my first venture into HT) and I happen to believe the Monoprice stuff is more then efficient for this application...Now if I had let's say for example Goldmund or Krell amplification I would most certainly be using the best I could afford for those...get my drift ya nut???...And if I were lucky enough to have equipment like Krell and the like I wouldn't be worried much about the $$$$$ now would I....

Trying one brand of cable is not inclusive to all brands. It's about synergy, some brands work well in a given system, some don't. Thats not to say because one higher priced brand didn't give you the results you were looking for means all higher priced cables are taboo.
All Jesse is saying is that as the electronics elevate in a system, so should the supporting cables. If you dig the monoprice stuff, cool, rock it bro, just don't close your mind to experiment a bit in the cable department.

That's what I'm saying also Tony!...I'm with ya!! Believe me, if I had a pair of powerful high current Krell MonoBlocks you can bet the cables will be "comparative" in a supporting roll...I just think for the equipment and the short runs I'm using right now the Monoprice wire & bananas are fine...There are literally 100's of reviews from people who are using the Monoprice stuff and they're all happy with the products...and very cost effective!!...ya really can't beat it!!

Eh, I spent 33 bucks on 3 11 foot Audioquest FLX 14/4 in wall rated wire and it sounds better than the Monoprice stuff no doubt. I am using it for my front three since they require the least amount of wire.

And I didnt spend a massive amount.

Just moving from Monoprice (which is where I started out and still am using for my surrounds) to a moderately priced cables made a difference (I went with Signal Cable Analog 2 interconnects and Audioquest speaker wire). And I didnt spend that much in all honesty (~200 for the entire setup, 50 of which was banana plugs from GLS Audio).

Hence you seeing lots of recommendations for the Canare BlueJeans speaker wire, Signal Cable speaker wire as well as both brands interconnects.

You dont have to spend an inordinate amount for "good cables". Sometimes its just a little more.

I plan on spending ~10% the cost of my speakers/amps on cables/interconnects as thats probably those cables will have the best price to performance ratio for me.

Well Sledge, I still think you're selling yourself short as I believe you would get a lot more out of your rig with different cabling.
And if I were lucky enough to have equipment like Krell

You couldn't give me that gear, but if you think it's the king, so be it.

BTW, cabling has come along way in the last 25 years.

Yo nut, my brother-in-law in Philly has some older Krell, Mark Levinson and Audio Research equipment...a true audiophile and collector to say the least...He also dabbles in photography...Now never did I say of Krell "it's king" BUT let me tell ya something... ...naah, on second thought I won't say a word...what's the sense...you wouldn't take it if someone gave it to ya...and I don't believe that for a second...maybe you really are a "nut"!! ; )

I'm aware that cabling has come a long way...but I also KNOW that much of what you see out there is all hype!!...and "sometimes" what ya hear is placebo...

Since you are new here I don't expect you would know much, if anything about me, so let me assure you that I am a man of my word. Ask anyone here that knows me. So, when I said you couldn't give it to me, you can go to the bank with that.

As for the rest of your opinions on cabling......I think you'll be right at home on my IL. C'ya.

One could also argue your A9's verse any cerwin Vega is just hype and a placebo effect., and you wasted your money. See where I'm going ?? Why is that a dilusional statement ? Because your ears told you so, yes ?

Well my brother, if you don't let your ears give something else a try, you'll be stuck with the Cerwin Vega of cables for a long time. Take that not only from me, but many others here who have been in this hobby probably longer than you've been alive. No offense. Just sayin' is all.

Nobody will give you an arguement on hype, placebo effect, and snake oil, those things are present in everything we buy, even outside of audio. You just need experience to decipher the B.S. from what works....and this community has alot of collective experience.
