I need some input ...
My budget is $800, but could go to $1300 tops. Would like to be 9/10 or better if used. I was looking on Audiogon and there were quite a few players in my price range! Which just added to my confusion.
Prefer something in black or charcoal.
I have Klipsch KLF-30's biamped, so I wouldn't want something too bright in the upper end.
Running a Dared pre and Carver TFM on the horns and will soon be adding Silver 7t's to the LF.

Sounds like you have a 2 channel. Sony ES is what you wanna look for. They have made some fantastic 2 channel SACD players. You can get a very nice used SACD player for around 200-500 bucks which listed for 1000-2200 range when new.
If you want a Blu ray player that does all and sounds amazing for SACD/DVD AUDIO and Killer CD then look no further then Cambridge audio.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
I really enjoy my Marantz 8001.If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

A couple of questions:
Do you want strictly an audio only player, or do you want one that will also play DVDs/Blu-Rays?
Does it need to be multichannel or is 2 channel only acceptable?
This will be in my dedicated 2-channel setup, so DVD/Blue Ray is not necessary.HRDROKN

Listened to a Cambridge 751 BD the other day and I was very impressed as it sounded as good as the 840C I had and much better than the 555 Sony I had......this will be my next purchase as it plays all formats video and musical, a very sweet sounding you should listen to if you have the chance.............. -
There was a very similar thread just a few days ago.

Being that this was a 2-channel rig, I decided to go with a Marantz SA8004...
Thanks for the input guys!

Got it!
Listened to it... I feel that this is a nice addition! I have to get my new tube preamp back for a real evaluation, but I like what I'm hearing now!

Sony SCD-C555ES.....or perhaps the SCD-XA7ES or SCD-777ES, although I have the nomenclature skewed on those last two. The single tray 7 series is one to keep your eye on. Avoid the top loader SCD-1.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
