Even better.I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Think so? I thought Upton was the better choice between the two.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Upton definitey has more "upside" (nyuk nyuk), but Bourn is performing better in the here and now. Also... he's a much better fit for the Brave's line-up. And we didn't give up jackcrap for him. Unlike the Phils for PenceI never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. The Phils gave up some prospects, Jarred Cosart, Jonathan Singleton, Josh Zeid and some dude to be named later. But the farm system, while depleted last year, has been bolstered quite well, especially after the Werth deal. They really didn't lose much, especially since hot players like Worley and Bastardo were what Houston was pushing for and didn't get.
But Pence shores up an outfield that's hurting with piecemeal players that aren't filling the gap from injuries as well. But he's already showing a difference and his debut was pretty interesting.
The Braves claim they need a good lead off hitter. They have that with Bourn but he still not a big gun. When Uggla is your "big gun", that's a difference. Uggla was Florida's big gun for 5 years and it got them close but no cigar. Florida hasn't been in anything substantial since 2003. Then again, Upton isn't a big gun either. Pence has been a more productive hitter over his career than Bourn or Upton.
I guess you're right. Philly did kind of shaft Atlanta on that deal.
Then again, I wonder how far the Braves are going to get. They have a .578 win percentage. That's enough to be tops in any other division except the AL East. But in the NL East, they are 6 games back from the Phils. In any other division, the 1st to 2nd spread is not more than 2.5 games. That's not to say that the Braves suck. Not at all. Going by just the numbers, only 3 other teams are ranked higher, The Phils, Red Sox and Yanks. Everybody else is beneath the Braves. Still, I'd rank the Braves above NY and probably even with the Red Sox. But no matter how good we say the Braves are, being ranked 3rd or 4th and being 6 games back in your division from the top spot is a telling statistic. Not necessarily against the Braves but rather if the Braves are in the top 5 teams in the league and they are chasing the top team in the league...how easy is it going to be to make up 6 games? Especially when either team has a talent depth that keeps them winning even when the top talent is on the DL?
It's going to be an interesting pennant race. Barring a complete implosion of the Phillies, Both the NL top honor and the NL Wild Card are coming out of the NL East. So the other divisions, if they want to go to the show, they need to be at the top of the list or they'll be on the couch watching too.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
