If I move to TX, I'd want to be around San Antonio or Austin, not Dallas:wink:

Both of which are more humid than DC:tongue:

I'd much rather be hot than cold. I'll stick with Texas...despite the high humidity:biggrin:

    ...no snow...

Don't remember if it was in early 1979 or 80; but, you would have been completely amazed at how much snow there was in Alvin down below Houston.

Yes it snows (occasioally),Yes they have tornados (urban areas are not immune to them), earthquakes can happen anywhere, and you didn't even mention the "H" word (as in hurricane) or the gang problems.

Sorry but you can't call a few minutes of white powder every 5-10 years "snow" I've lived here since 1993 and have never experienced any tornado, so another sorry  Hurricane? Maybe some trees falling once in a while in other areas, but my Katy home didn't even lose power because of any hurricane, final sorry to you

Maybe, Larry, but I'd call that a miracle rather than the norm. I've been here since 1993 and may have seen itty bitty snow within a day for 4-5 times max.

One thing I do lack for TX life, is a jacked up Texas truck! I saw some stellar examples of realy nice American made trucks on some realy big agressive tires! Gotta get me one of those!!

[QUOTE=...but I'd call that a miracle rather than the norm....[/QUOTE]

Not norm but how 'bout this miracle from Galveston: A History by McCcombs, University of Texas Press

"At times Galveston Bay has frozen. Jane Long experienced such a condition during her fruitless, lonely vigil on Bolivar in 1820-1821 waiting for her husband to return. In 1886, with temperatures a few degrees above zero, the bay froze five miles out to a thickness of two and-a-half inches. Several schooners were caught and one captain died. A twelve-hour snowfall resulted in five-foot drifts...."

Or how Frozen Point in Galveston Bay got its name in 1895:

Sure do. I have pictures, too. We had spent Christmas Eve day up in DFW and drove back to Katy in the snow. The kids slept, the wife was white-knuckled, and I grew up in South Dakato and just chuckled...
