PSW505 AC Power Requirements

Dear Polk Audio,
I have recently moved to the UK, taking my US PSW505 with me. I have it on a voltage stepdown transformer 240V -> 110 V AC and it works very well.
I would like to know if this model of powered subwoofer will accept 240V AC directly, or if I will always need the transformer.
Please also tell me the maximum AC power requirement at 110V AC.
Thank you
- Kevin

My spare Polk PSW-505 has a sticker on the back that says 110V. Your sub probably has the same sticker unless it was removed. In either case you will have to use the stepdown transformer to operate your PSW-505. 240V directly would damage your Sub. I'm not sure of the maximum AC power requirement at 110V AC.Home Theatre.............

A ball park figure: Multiply the input voltage (110) by the fuse rating, (I think it is 3.14 A) and that wil give the maximum power that may be consumed safely by the equiptment. So we are looking at around 300 watts, your transformer, should be rated at least 500W for safe and maximum performance. Looking at the output stage of the power amp section, continuous power output may be less than 100 W.
You will always need a transformer !!
