I think Smoke On The Water should have been much higher, and The Smiths How Soon Is Now is pretty good.

My first bar chord allowed me to play the riff from Proud Mary. Seemed like everyone was working on that song when it came out.

Interesting no Van Hagger songs made it.
I like Intruder, the intro to Pretty Woman on Van Halen II.

    Right forgot about Diver Down.

I would add Schools Out by Alice Cooper.

hell yes schools out should be there.

The smiths, please, i like some of their stuff, but not because of monster riffs, in fact, some of those are much like the selections to the r&r hall of fame, nothin to do with rock and roll.

Notice how many of the great ROCK&ROLL riffs are simple, i can appreciate the steve vai and ingwe malmstein technical mastery, and i can understand guitarists enthusiasm for their songs, but the " oh you think thats fast fingerwork?, listen to this" sorta gets old quick.

Child In Time on the Made In Japan album is one great guitar solo. I like your other choices too.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

3/4 of that list seems to be there simply because the song was popular, not because it was a particularly memorable, or even good, song and/or riff. Truth be told, while I've heard the majority of them, I'd forgotten about nearly every one of them. So, not that memorable for me.

Guess some of the most obvious that I would have put there would be Steely Dan - Josie, Joe Striani - Surfing With The Alien, SRV - Crossfire, CCR - Born On The Bayou, Hollies - Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress, and well, I guess it's obvious I'd have a much different list.

I do agree with maybe 4 or 5 of the picks though, so not all bad.

Problem is, electric guitars have been around over 60yrs.
We can't even select 1 song per year.
Maybe we can divide that list by periods, such as 50-60's would surely include some Elvis licks like Hound Dog and Jail House Rock, CCR and Cream and lots of Beatles and Rolling Stones.
