Which Sub - PSW505 or Velodyne DLS-4000R?

Hi, All -
I've just stumbled on an amazing deal (amazing for Canada) on a new PSW505 - ends today.
I've been considering the Velodyne DLS-4000R, which I think is somewhat directly comparable to the 505, or even the DLS-5000R (a 15" giant). My local Futureshop has an open box 5000 I've been eyeing up, but I can get this PSW-505 about $200 cheaper still (under $400 Cdn). The price is about $300 cheaper than what I can get the DLS-4000 for at Futureshop (regular price).
At the risk of being blasphemous - anyone had opportunity to compare these?

505 will shake you room - for movies. It's not very musical but a very good HT sub

Main usage (~90%) would be HT. Room is about 21 x 18 x 7.5 - and I know placement is important, not just size of the sub compared to size of the room.
I have read that Velo makes good subs, but nothing comparable in their line can touch the price on this PSW505 - and after my original post, I actually found another site selling it another $50 cheaper, with free shipping! Is it possible there is an actual deal to be had in Canada?????First HT system in progress:

I'd go for the DLS-5000r, that way you never have the "what if factor" and it sounds like a good deal.

I own the DLS 3500R that little sub is amazing. I have owned other polk subs but none have such clean low bass with no distortion hence the DLS (distortion limiting system). I would love to hear the 4000. I bought mine used for 40 bucks from some lady that had it and i guess she didnt know what she had or what it cost. It is in prestine condition. IMO go for the Velodyne. Good luck.Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.

I would take the Velodyne that thing is a beast and IMO a better sub than the Polk
-
Between the two the Velodyne is a better subwoofer. However, it's not better than most of the new DSWPRO or MicroPRO. The days of just plain awful Polk subwoofers is finally over.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Seconding this, I find myself turning it off all the time for music and going with just the PSW300, it's one smoooth operator, but can't hit the explosions like the 505 can.
...wanders off to find deals on Velodyne subs....Up
LSi15 LSiC - RX-V3000
Down
LSiM707 - 706c - 702f/x - Dual HSU VTF-15H Mk2
Parasound HCA-3500 - HCA-2003A - Marantz SR7005
Sim2 D60 - Dragonfly 106" Panny 500 -
I own the DLS 4000R and I?m very pleased with it. It has a very good balance for both music and HT. It will be one of the last components I upgrade.
