    $355!

Dude...plenty of time left. What's the rushing for? I emailed to the Githen Center about tax deductibles but have not heard from them yet. I think it's coz I am in PST and they are in EST.

They send you paperwork for a tax deduction. I usually throw it out. Kinda defeats the idea of charity in my mind.

In Canuck land we are often both PST and GST unless we are HST! Did you go like this ?

Sorry for the disturbance, carry on!

Mark, sorry to be a pest but just to be on the safe side, your OP does not state this is strickly for Polkies... Was this your intent to open this up also externally or just an omission. Sorry, just for safety sake.

    Cheers!

Why would I limit it just to Polkies? It's just a sign and the contribution has nothing to do with me. I'm only the delivery boy and I'd shocked if anyone from outside even posted.

Relax John...keep this fun yet worthy ok?

    Roger that.

I have to commend you folks, even those that haven't bid, as this isn't about being competitive....John  haha, but the fact it's something for a good cause. Just the fact that you would like to bid is enough good measure at this point.

Hopefully, this will be something that stays within the family that is our group of animals here. You represent Polk Audio in more ways than you know and that's a good feeling for me personally.

I'm going to close the bidding on Friday, so that I may get down to see Matt and drop it off for framing.

With that being said, get off your asses as I'll try and make this as cool of a object as I can possibly do guys.

I'll get the sign, hand signed TO YOU by Matt, if that's what you want, Thanks Russman for the idea.

The winner is the winner and like I said previously, I'll get whatever you want signed upon that sign, by Matthew at this point.

The ghetto fabulous version of Charlie Sheen maybe . Thanks for the bids John, it's very cool. Can you imagine the dichotomy of him signing that and thanking you for everything you've done for Polk and the forum? C'mon....that has to make you smile.

I'd love to own this sign and it would make an awesome addition to my collection of Polk oddities and coolness but it should be for something greater. I'm no philanthropist but I do try and get as much stuff for you guys as possible, whenever possible. Polk gets more and more tight with goodies so sometimes you just have to start stealing things....just kidding. Al Ballard gave his goodwill for this item and for that we all should be thankful since it's for a great cause.

I'll confirm the tax issue tomorrow and post the details. That's a great question and I should know the answer even if I'm not involved directly with that side of the contribution.

When I purchased gear from George Grand at the last Polkfest, he had me write the check out directly to Githens. To the best of my knowledge (it was a while ago, okay?!), they then sent a thank-you card with the amount of the donation printed on it.

I would go ahead and verify, anyway. I would go look for it, but I'm almost certain it got filed in the round bin.

    I know you were kidding.

That card from The Githens Center, it qualifies as a receipt for a donation. There isn't anything fancy you need. Just something with a date (the post mark on the envelope is good enough) and the amount you gave which was listed in the last one I got.

How true is the old saying of saving a penny goes a long way!

I regret I didn't pickup pennies before but I'll try to come up with two pennies between now and Friday (i.e. if I can find some on the street).

And the Githen Center replied. They send out the receipt and they are registered non-profit so it's all good for the tax deductions.

I normally don't claim charity contributions less than $500 but but anything over $500, I have to put it for the IRS.

P.S. I got what you guys saying about tax deductions and I quite agreed.

LAST CALL GUYS!!!! I'm going to close the thread so I can get the signatures and stuff handled in order to drop it off at the framer.

    Currently it's Gimpod @ $355.01

No more penny bids increments guys.

Keep it at $10 increments only from here on out.

As far as the tax receipt, I suggested giving one to dudeinaroom the last time (in a PM) but I think was not received so George if I ever am the winning bid this time around could you confirm providing a receipt to dudeinaroom for the donation as with the issues he had this year I figure he could use even the smallest tax break available to him?

Sorry buddy, if you are serious about exposing this Polk flag into your home you need to be serious about your bidding (with your penny bid, I figure Jstas is the rightfull bid winner at this point).

So, now is your chance to be serious about it gimpod as the new bid is....

    $370!

Now friendly neighboors, will you let this fine Polk banner escape and cross the border to Canuck land? Seriously, the SECOND Polk banner to leave the USA! Think about it, will you really be able to leave through this shame?:biggrin::tongue:

C'mon guys, last call is here!!!

    FRIENDLY WARNING!

You might have big problems getting this back to the USA as those banners are planned for my grand sons game room and they are not even 3 years old yet so by the time they tire of them it might take many years! Last chance to keep this in the USA gents!!!

Damn TK, you're on a mission is seems.

It's not just a banner, which would assume its cheap, flimsy and easy to replicate from any common source including Kinkos.

This is a one of a kind, pvc based sign that's more pliable and durable than wood and most certainly NOT foam core or another cheaper material.

It will be signed by whomever you want but specifically Matt Polk. It was suggested by another member that I have it signed for the winner, as if it was for my own room and use, as an example. In that case, I have other noteworthy and equally outstanding individuals that should be a part of this sign and I will gladly obtain them as well.

This is a great cause guys and your effort is absolutely without a bar to compare it to at this point.

Congrats and while I'd like to keep it in the USA....the Canucks have really surged here recently and I can't stop a herd of Maple trees or Hosers.

    Good luck and Thank you!

$355.01 is still more than $355.00. Was just trying to make a point about his $5 bumps. Do you real think that if I had been top bidder that I would have payed $355.01 ? Of course I would have rounded it up, I'm a cheap sob but not that cheap.
