Its bothering me. I cut them exact to line, and they were too small. So I sat with a drywall rasp slowly whittling away, trying again, etc. Finally I got impatient. Did 1, didnt check to see how much i needed on other. Made other 1/4" too wide. so its no longer snug
its the rc85i, so 8" woofer. Fairly heavy.
Should I try some drywall putty, cardboard, etc, to help make it snug? or?
Or, just leave it?

I think what you're saying the hole to place speaker in is 1/4" too large, but the speaker edge would cover it fine? If so you're fine, don't worry. IMHO.
