Hello,
I had posted this in the speakers forum but unfortunately had not recieved answers.
I am installing in wall rc85. I know they are new and amazing, however, I was hoping someone could weigh in. They are approximately 5' off the ground. So 1 ft higher than listening height when seated.
Installed in an 8' wall. with fireblock. Installed aboute 6" from fireblock.
I have insulation in walls-paper side on opposite side of insulation, so the fiberglass is speaker side.
Its a little dusty from when they installed the cieling. drywall dust, etc.
Is this ok to be behind the speaker, or should i remove the insulation, or part of insulation (i was thinking of taking a 6" wide piece of cardboard, cutting the insulation behind speaker, and using cardboard to hold the insulation above the speaker.
What do you think? and why?
Also - should I install upside down, or would it be better to have dust on electronics vs speakers?

Dont worry about all that. In wall speakers are designed to be in the wall. Insulation will actually help the performance of the speaker.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
OK, not a problem with either mounting idea and I'm with Mantis on this one.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I installed some RC65i in my bed room... One is very tight and like no room for anything else in wall. I even had to remove a stud over for this one. The other side or Right one the other is Left as a big cavity for the speaker. I was affraid that one being a really small and one being a really large cavity the speakers would sound different. I'm suprised that the speakes sound fine, and are balanced.
