Just bought sammy 3-d 1080p tv, and I only can get 1080i. Can this be my processor Anthem or possibly my hdmi cables. Or is it not possible to receive. I am using dtv and they say their signal is 1080p. Thanks Doug

Isen`t normally all cable or satellit tv 720P being up-converted to 1080i ???? I have IPTV ( Bell Fibe ) and it is 720P up-converted to 1080i using component or HDMI .

Almost all of the HD stations are 720P or 1080i.
Only a few video on demand movies are 1080P. At least that is how it was when I had DirecTV.

If you want good 1080P, watch a high quality Blu-ray movie. This is where you will get your best picture...

I would check the settings on your cable box and make sure (if Comcast) the box is selected to 1080i. If you are passing HDMI through the receiver, make sure your receiver settings are passing the correct setting. On mine you can change it
    System:
    Sony Blue Ray - BDP-S380
    Comcast DVR - DCX3400m
    Onkyo AV receiver - TX-NR609
    Sony LCD TV - KDL-46V4100

    Speakers:
    Center: VM10
    Front Left: VM10
    Front Right: VM10
    Subwoofer: Cambridge SoundWorks BassCube 8s

Surrounds: TBD - working on updating since a living room redesign and new receiver addition

    Extras:
    1 CSi30
    1 CS175i
    2 RTi38
    Pair of FXi30
    Onkyo TX-SR600

Who is "they" and why are they lieing to you ?

Most do not broadcast in 1080p, only a few on demand movies and maybe a select few sports channels from what I gather. Run a bluray disc and see if your receiver recognizes the 1080p signal so you know it's not the receiver. Also, you may have to check the settings on the input you have the cable box plugged into on the receiver and the cable box itself.

My Comcast (xfinity) has gone to hell since Xfinity has taken over. All HD channels look like crap.
