I have (2) Atrium 60 speakers hooked up outside on my deck and connected to a Yamaha receiver inside. When I hook up my ipod, songs seem to cut in and out. THis doesn't seem to happen when I play a CD. Does anyone know where to begin to troubleshoot? The connections on the rear of the speakers and rare of the receiver are all correct.

if it sounds great with other sources then it s not a speaker wiring issue. I would try to change the input that the ipod is using and see what happens. So plug the ipod into the same input that the cd player is in. this would let you know if the input is bad or not. If it still does it i would look at trying a different cable for the ipod.

Does the receiver have a physical switch to select source, meaning, a knob you turn to select? If so, the connections there may have accumulated dirt over time. Deoxit to clean it out. Had a similar situation with a carver preamp.
