an Onix CD-2, which IIRC is a reworked MBL unit marketed by AV123, very pretty, looks like a MBL black acyrlic face with gold buttons. It's replacing a Panasonic DVD F61A which plays DVD/CD's, this rig is a Huge improvment, I'm listening to all my redbooks all over again, unfortunately my trusty Marantz 2270 dropped a channel during the test and I had to switch to my Yamaha CX-600U pre.

Amp is a Yammie MX-800U, speaks are Martin Logan Sequel's and JBL L-56's

I'm having alot of fun

The 1st pic is a factory MBL shot
The middle to are my humble set-ups
The last is the Onix at CES when it debuted
Thorens TD125MKII, SME3009,Shure V15/ Teac V-8000S, Denon DN-790R cass, Teac 3340 RtR decks, Onix CD2...Sumo Electra Plus pre>SAE A1001 amp>Martin Logan Summit's

Looks nice. Also like the JBL Monitors?

Is the Onix a tube stage CDP? I'm assuming yes?

    Enjoy!

I used to own that cdp, and now my brother has it. I purchased it from AV123 for a nice price. It is built like a tank and looks beautiful. It has a nice transport and they didn't skimp on the parts inside. The remote could if wielded correctly easily give a man a concussion...

I included a pic of the guts...
The greatest enemy of truth is very often not the lie - deliberate, contrived and dishonest - but the myth - persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.

Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

I wouldn't believe a word out of Mark's mouth but it's a nice player with some solid similarities. I'd like to see the guts since that would be the tell-all. Can you pop the top on it and take some pics?

    NM...just saw Unbridled's pic.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Awesome unbridled, that explains alot, sucker weighs 24lbs!

New info, apparently this CD-2 I have is just a loaner tease, my guy is hot-rodding the power supply on a CD-3 for me, he knew I didn't have anything nice and sent me the 2 to tide me over , the main diff is the CD-3 has a switchable 24bit/96khz and his tests with the new power supply say it's a Huge diff in the sound quality, I can hardly wait....there might be some reworked Audio Alchemy DAC's in the future as well  CD's are fun again, I still Love my Thorens/SME/Shure rig and my many tape decks, this is just different fun!

Doro, I know Mark Schifter doesn't have alot of fans, but Peter Madnick, Keith Allsop and he made some really nice gear over the years. This Onix is proof enough for me. Since I have a tech who can work on this stuff, I'm fine with that, should anything happen in the future

And unbridled I've heard about these milled from a soild chunk of aluminum remotes, I don't have one, I'll keep an eye out, thanks again for that pic!!

Pic #2 in the first post, that's a Directed HD radio setting on top the R-R!!

A so called science type proudly says... "I do realize that I would fool myself all the time, about listening conclusions and many other observations, if I did listen before buying. That’s why I don’t, I bought all of my current gear based on technical parameters alone, such as specs and measurements."

More amazing Internet Science Pink Panther wisdom..."My DAC has since been upgraded from Mark Levinson to Topping."

Yep, my partner is a transmitter engineer for radio and TV here in town, he keeps tabs the stations with that from the house, the speakers are crap, so he wired it to the Marantz for digital HD FM to the JBL's

Hehe, K-GUN 9 has some Ford F-350 Super Duty's to get up there, then he switches to the SnowCat to get up the hill to the towers and the transmitter buildings, he loves that SnowCat
