I don't have an issue with people not adding God in the allegiance but I do believe it should be indivisible and said.
Justin, you seem like a smart guy, and you served in our military and I respect that, but to say you think we need a constitutional amendment so you have to say the pledge is not the point. The Pledge and our Flag represent the country we live in and hopefully stand up for. Not the Gov. or God. It is about being a Patriot and behind what this country represents. It should not be viewed as an agenda for the right or left or Jesus freaks it is about us as a people.
If you don't see that than I feel sorry for you. I truly do.
I did NOT say we need a Consitutional amendment to force me to say the pledge. To do so would go against everything the Founders and the Constitution stands for and I would fight against it with all I have.
If you have an open mind and actually do the research, you will find that the Founder's left out an oath of allegiance for reasons similar to those in which they gave us the 2nd Amendment.
Sorry, the pledge is NOT patriotic. Reciting it in no way makes you a patriot.
It was decided long after the founding of our country, by statists, that it would be a good idea to indoctrinate kids into lining up behind the state, and later changed by fundies that want this nation to line up under one faith. Seems it has worked in some places.
Sorry, that is my belief which I am allowed to have, and I am sorry it is different than yours, but I stand for my beliefs. THAT is patriotic.
Furthermore, I swear no allegiance to no man, country or inanimate object because if that country turns to tyranny, I want to be able to stand up and fight against it and not have some oath make me beholden to them. Oaths are for politicians and members of the military, not citizens of a free republic.
The fact that you aren't open enough to see other points is sad, and I feel sorry for you.
At the end of the day though, your beliefs are what they are and they aren't going to change..., and I respect them because in America, all beliefs are welcomed equally... at least to me.

Unfortunately, many atheists are giving atheism a bad name, they're turning atheism into a religion and an increasingly militant one at that.
I know quite a number of Christians doing the same, making their religion militant that is.
But I know that wasn't your point, and I agree..., there are extremists on all sides and I don't agree with any of them.
I do not agree that it violates separation of church and state for kids to pray at graduation.
I don't see a problem with the seasonal religious decorations adorning government buildings.
I simply don't believe that any of those things constitute our government favoring one religion or the other.
Those are just a few of many many examples.
So yeah, I agree with you. I just wish people would live and let live...Fronts: Polk RTi A9's

Yeah -- live and let live...
I'm a life long atheist; but, over the past 10 or 15 years I've noticed its gone from live and let live to nasty and getting nastier. On many levels, I'd rather deal with the "intolerant" Christians than the professionally perpetually aggrieved and offended atheists. -

Agreed. Like I said earlier, them taking offense to unoffensive things indicates they have some problems in their lives that need addressed.
I am straying far from topic though, and I've said all I will say about it.
I agree, NBC was wrong for what they did.Fronts: Polk RTi A9's
