Dont see it myself, unless shes referring to that pitiable tt.

Maybe buying the relatively new rega, about 450, lotta money for us, but theres a whole lotta faithfully discwashed goodness for a 50 sumthin rocker always willing to try to stretch his sensibilitys at fantasyland records every payday in atlanta.

By the way, cheatin a little, can never guess on the rock album cover game, you guys are too far ahead of me, but can you id either album, the bottom, 1978-79 ft.myer va. barracks, fri. aft., waitin on that girl from spain to come get me, weekend at her place, pretty good warm up music for weekend prep.

Top one, much later discovery, this guy was very talented singer songwriter, okay its tony carey, this one had "Fine fine day", and i have a promotional lp single of"First day of summer". one of my all time fave pop songs, sorry about self indulgence, but am spinning these things for first time in a long.

What is that on comp?huh

Never heard one, just from readings, seems they make, for the cash, a tt that does whats important, very well, not a 10,000 dollar tt, but damn well done.

They also seem to hold their value well, based on classifieds, seems well regarded.

For 450, seems you can get a tt and cartridge well above the technics 70s era sldd2 with plug in cartridge that im using now. just like new. cartridge is new.

Jerry j12 gave it to me first time we ever met, along with loaning me his ai-1 cable and box, because i was buying his sda 2bs, and had monoblock amps, non common ground so i would need ai device and did not have the money for one, offered to loan me very expensive silver speaker wires or ics, cant remember which, AND a tube amp he had salvaged and rewired .

I have since found out he is just that kind of guy.

Pretty obscure, band, but ended up with terrible top hit years later, commercial and nothing like this album.

Having music instead of gear meets will greatly expand ones music knowledge. I also tend to follow individuals and where they have been and what they have done. Like if you were a Todd Rungren fan, you might know he produced the lower album. The Tubes / Remote Control

I also like album cover art. I was leading in the album cover game. shack was right behind IIRC.

Oh, maybe if all the LP bins matched and were placed in an organized pattern dear wife would be happier? My wife's propensity for neatness and organization keeps the slob in me at bay.

After all these years, did not know one of my all time sorta kept at arms length faves produced that album.

Loved his singles from my heyday," We gotta get you a woman",Hello its me",also have a utopia album, cant remember name, but its the one with sort of all seeing eye on cover, just saw it last night while going through my album collaction, but never appreciated just how brilliant and important he is.

also thouroghly enjoyed a concert of his about a year or so ago on directtv, expecting to just enjoy hits i was familiar with.

Knew he was responsible for engineering many big albums, and he seems to be the latest artist to be "remembered" and "discovered" by newer generations.

Have seen him on jimmy fallon and david letterman.

    Good to see.

    Thanks for that info.

My advice is that you need 'your' own room. One that the wife has 'absolutely' no interest in looking at or being in and that no company would want to 'see' unless they were interested in the gear in there.

I know, because I have one--it also doubles as my home office. It's at the back of the house behind the Master Bathroom (was a covered porch in another life--I insulated it and ran a couple of electrical lines from the Bathroom into it--had a guy install a new storm window and I was golden.

What's on my floor: a set of Monitor 5As, one tube amp, one tube CD player, one Adcom GFA-555, on Onkyo/Integra pre-amp, one 12" 200 watt/600watt peak sub, a couple of boxes of vinyl. A seven foot L-shaped desk....three walls of bookshelves with lots and lots of volumes, CDs, DVDs, etc. A Yamaha tuner, a fan and two chairs--one office and one 'recliner' for critical listening. And that does not include the wall of JBL Lt towers with the LSI-7s on them and the Cambridge Model Sixes on top of the back wall bookshelves (and there's even 'more' than that in the room).

The wife is conditioned to not bother to look in there. My daughter, though, often hangs out with Dad for listening session or to read something 'interesting' together. Or catch a quick vid (DVD or Blu-ray).

But if you're sharing that room with your wife...then Dan is 'right'!

You need to 'straighten" up a bit.

Maybe you should stop hitting on her brother.

    But what about the tt.

By the way, the neatest little room in the house, with sloped ceiling, one wall of windows, and of course oak floors, is being emptied to make a walk in closet.

Maybe last remaining bedroom of 4, can be used not only for a little office, but listening room.

The living room does fine, it was unusually glommed up, because of digging out all my albums at once during clean out of little room for eventual walk in closet, but to drag in a box or two at a time is normally just fine.

sure stayed up too late spinning vinyl, you just keep seeing old stuff you had forgotten about, and want to know if it was as good as you remember or embarrasing.

TT is nothing special but does the job for now. A Technics p-mount with a pretty nice Ortofon cartridge in it, courtesy of one of our members. I'll run with this for a while till I feel I need to upgrade. Most of my vinyl is from my youth! No spring chicken here but I'm not out to pasture either. lol
