    Thanks Guys!

Just got back from BB with my stuff. I went in pretty much set on buying a new A1000. Turns out they had a display model 3311CI they just put up on the open box table this morning. I looked it over (I like the look of the 11 more than the 12) and it was pristine. Bought it and a 4 year best buy warranty in case anything goes wrong for 650. I am usually a stickler about buying Display models but considering it was 450 less than the 12 and I got a 4 year warranty (instant replacement to a 12 pretty much if it has isues), I was able to get over the fears.

The thing is a beauty, just cleaned it up with some rubbing alcohol and it is perfect. The money I saved allowed me to pick up my Polk OWM3's and an Ipod touch to take advantage of the Airplay. All in all a pretty good deal, and oh yeah 36 months no interest on my BB card :)

    Happy Camper here

Nice choice. This unit is an updated version of mine. I also got mine as a demo unit at BB for about half price years ago (about 4 years and still performing 'flawlessly'). You can't go wrong for that price--has everything you need and plays nice with Polks.

    Enjoy!

Oh I know, there will be significant upgrades once I start making some real money in 4 years. I think I'll be going PSB on the speakers though (been a huge fan for awhile)

The 2112CI has a front preout if I ever wanted to amp the fronts but I probably won't be doing that

And I'll be moving to VA Beach

    This reminded me of this:
Ken Kessler: Check it out, my man! This is the Dominator X-10. Thirty inches of thigh-slapping, blood-pumping, nuclear brain damage!

Heavy Metal Kid: Bitchin'! Hey, what's it f#$%ing cost?

Ken Kessler: That's the bitchin' part about it! It don't matter! If you can't afford it, F#$%ING FINANCE IT!

Ken Kessler: So what if it's as big as a Subaru and costs as much? You'll never have to trade this in! This is gonna be with you for the rest of your life! And when you die, they can BURY you in it!

Not trying to imply anything. This part of that movie just always cracked me up.

I think you are well on your way to putting a nice system together. Hope you enjoy it!

Uh oh. Is it bad that I am already eyeing the Emotiva XPA-5 (or maybe just the 3) ?!? Probably would tear the entryish level Monitor's to pieces but that would give me a good reason to upgrade them

Fine by me. I can't afford a 2 or 3 k power amp, so I have no issue buying a budget option (that appear to be killer)

Power amps won't phase Monitor 70s and CS2, etc. You'd be hard pressed to damage your speakers with 'good' clean power. And the M70s actually open up and become a lot more musical with 200 or more watts per channel.

As for Emo. Nothing wrong there if you want something new. I haven't heard these amps myself. Am more of a 'vintage' guy. Buying used you can get some really nice stuff for about the same as a new Emo or even a bit less.

I can see the bug has bitten already!

Another option is to buy slightly older, better thought of gear at approx the same $$, or, a lot less. You can buy two good used amps for the price of one new Emo, or an amp and a preamp. Adcom, Carver,Parasound,Rotel, etc.

    +1. gdb.

I've run a 200 watt/channel Adcom with my Denon on M70s and the 'difference' was 'quite' noticeable! Not that they didn't sound Ok with the Denon...but it was another level with external amplification.

Good to know. I'm just window shopping here, upgrades will come down the line. Maybe I can convince my father to donate his Krell setup to me :)

You know, you could always "one up" him and show him what tubes are all about. At that point, he couldn't get rid of his Krell gear fast enough. Of course, by then you wouldn't want it anyways.....

Well this is too much fun. All my stuff is starting to trickle in, one thing I am really excited about is building my own speaker cables. Got some Belden 10 gauge from Blue Jeans Cable (which is right down the street from me), Furez braided cable loom and some quality bananas. Should be a really fun and rewarding process

Been awhile since I have updated this. I made the move over to Virginia and my sound setup has changed already. I replaced the Monitor 70's with LSI15's and added an Emotiva UPA-2 to power them (steam IMO at the 299 closeout price). I am officially addicted! These LSI's certainly do not disappoint, even in stock form.
