A huge sub workout CD...please Read

This was posted from someone on the Sound and Vision forum. I have yet to try it but I thought Dr. Spec and some others might be willing to give it a try...read on....
I have two CDs worth of classical and theatre pipe organ music I recorded several years ago that is by far the best demo material for showing off the capabilities of a good subwoofer. I recorded these in two huge stone churches with three omni-directional (pressure) microphones direct to a digital recorder. The bass is extrordinarily strong, goes well below 20Hz, and is guaranteed to give your subwoofers a good workout. The second of the two CDs (with the Theater Organ music) has some incredibly strong low frequency room ambience - so strong that these tracks would not be able to be released commercially due to the possibility of speaker damage without some low frequency filtering. I have left these exactly as they were recorded, so be careful! If you have stereo subwoofers, these recordings justify this type of setup: the sense of space is fantastic. The track "Classical Organ 2" (which is my favorite demo piece) was previously posted in MP3 form but my free webspace got so many hits that Earthlink closed it down! Luckily I found someone to host these files who has unlimited server space.
They can be downloaded here, as individual tracks or as a .zip file of approximately 1GB:
http://www.biostudents.org/shfiles/audio.html
These are stereo uncompressed .wav files that can be burned directly to a CD and played. Tracks 1-16 comprise the first CD, and it should be burned with the software set to "no gaps between tracks" and "disc-at-once". This is because there were no fade-outs between selections and the room ambience continues between tracks.
Have Fun!
Note to the Copyright Police: These are non-commercial recordings I made myself of a local organist, and distributing them does not deprive any money-grubbing recording industry executives of their hard-earned cash.

The gauntlet has been thrown, and the PB2+ will rise to meet the challenge head on without fear.
I will download over the weekend via cable modem and burn to an audio grade CD.
Thanks for the tip!

That would be the understatement of the decade. 1.75 kB/sec on a cable modem? Holy moly that's slow. Estimated download time was 261 hours!
What is the most impressive single track? I'll download that single one instead just to try it.

Doc I will try and tell you later after I listen. I was getting 300-400 kb/s, but that was on the old server, maybe the new one is slower

I'm selecting Classic Organ Track #4 for a 10 hour download. CO#4 almost ruined that guy's sub at the 2:20 mark, so that's the one I want.
I'm running at 1.73 KB/sec........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Only 10 hours and 10 minutes left - woohoo!
If they find a faster server, let me know ASAP. Normally I can download a 37 MB file in about a minute.

The server link crashed for CO#4. Bummer. Anyone else successfully download any of these songs? How bought burning me a copy on a decent audio grade CD? That would be much appreciated. I really want to hear this subsonic organ stuff at full tilt. I'll plug a port for this stuff and leave the SS filter set to 16 Hz and really let the sub troll. I'm flat to 13 Hz in this tune configuration.

Man, Depending on how the Audio was ripped it could severely affect the music quality.
EAC (Exact Audio Copy) is the best software thats 'audiophile' grade.
So..can anyone host this? Since the links are dead or too slow.? -
I would, but I dont have enough website space to do this - it would definetely be faster than this mess though. Sorry, good luck!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

OK guys. I was insane and took the plunge attempting to download this file via IE. I didn't think it was going to work, but 21 hours later the IE "Download Finished" box pops up and I'm like holy shizznit..
I downloaded the 1 GB file so I have both CD's. But atlast I don't have a decent sub (PSW-404) so I really can't test this thing. Doc, if you want me to snail mail you a copy of the discs, just shoot me an email w/ the addy. I'll get it in the mail ASAP.
AnthonyDamn....8 lines...I've gotta put my sig on a diet now.... -
You've got email - thanks! Let us know how the 404 handles this stuff. See if you can hear/feel anything in the 25 Hz and below region. If it is all the author claims, this stuff should really rattle and pressurize the room with a good sub. The big 32' pipes can really dig subsonic and move a ton of air.

This is an interesting link below which compares popular subwoofers although it looks like Hsu Research may have been too "chicken" to have SVS in the lineup. The Hsu VTF-3 subwoofer is not included in the list. They also have a list of recommended music to test subsonic bass:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~colinf/Hsuvsothers.htm#Hsu%20Research%20/%20Boston%20Audio%20Society%20Bass%20Test
I would love to hear or should I say feel the 8 hz cannons on the Tchaikovsky: 1812 Overture:The New Recording:
Check out the warning label on this cd:When the 1812 was released, the cover read "Caution! Digital Cannons," and the interior of the booklet warned the listener that "the cannons of the Telarc 1812 Overture are recorded at a very high level. Lower levels are recommended for initial playback until a safe level can be determined for your equipment." Reviewers also issued cautions: "Just be sure the volume isnt so loud that one of the shots spreads pieces of speaker cone all over your floor," (Digital Audio); and "Its peaks would crack your window panes and maybe your speaker cones, too." (Knight-Ridder Newspapers). The disc became Telarcs best-selling recording of all time, with over 800,000 copies sold, and for well over a decade has been the audio demo disc of choice.
p.s.
Enya's "Watermarks" album is said to have 20 hz bass. They say to try track 10 "longships". -
Doc,
If musically it's worth having, please be so kind as to pass a copy my way...More later,

Well I talked to the man that has recorded the songs. (Soundhound from S&V forums) I asked if he could put a few songs on Kazaa, or somehow send them to me and I would host them on Kazaa for a few days so people could get it downloaded, but it does not sound to promising. But I will try again today.

I'm not the best judge of playing quality on the organ. Some people say Yo Yo Ma sounds different than someone else playing the same movement on the same violin. He probably does, but I lack the experience to know.
If it sounds decent and the movements seem well played, I'll send it on. If we all help each other out, we can all get a copy via snail mail if we each burn a copy and send it on to a Club member. Will this degrade the SQ? Probably but I'm not certain.

I ripped the wav files to 320 kbps, High Quality, Stereo MP3 files. All the files totalled ~ 240 MB. Not sure how to get this to everyone now. If you're familiar with FTP, send me a PM or email and we'll see what we can do. Alternatively, if there is one particular track you want, let me know as well.

Doc
Theoretically, it shouldn't. A digital copy is a digital copy. However, what we could do is circulate a "Master Copy". Each club member interested in the set would "copy" their own CD's from the "Master Copy" and send the "Master Copy" to the next club member. It should limit any chance of degrading SQ assuming we could keep those of you w/greezy fingers from touching the underside portion of the CD
Doc, I'd consider the copy you're getting in the mail as a "Master Copy" although it ain't labeled as such.

Doc, in spite of the above, I'll take your judgement on this Organwerke... If it's just bombast for a bass show, I'l pass. If it's actually musical, pass it on.More later,

Nothing yet, Anthony. We are dealing with the US Mail service, remember. I sent Russman a package once that took six weeks to get there. What a joke.
For a small item like that, maybe today. I got my new Digital Video Essentials yesterday in the mail. Haven't looked at that yet.
When I get the organ stuff, I'll fire it up right away and post my impressions.
