As promised, some pics.
You can see the Auricaps, but I don't have the gold plated boards either. I remember asking the seller about that.

George,
Here's a pic of the innards fo the SL2000A (left picture) the one on the left is 2005 model standard copper pcb's. The one on the right is the 2006 model with gold pcb abd silver shielded connecting wire. You can see the yellow Auricap coupling caps. The 2011 model is identical except I think they stopped shipping with Auricaps. You had asked about the value, I'm not sure, but as you can see they are easily accessible.
EDIT, easy to see, not sure how easy it is to get the pcb out
Sorry guys, this is NOT the photo of the SL2000A, it is in fact of the Dared VP-20 mono bloc amplifiers.
Got confused.

Thank you Brock--I'll report back soon,,old caps are out,, new ones goin' in,,I can say that it was not too bad,, I'm gonna start with the Russian K-40's,,then if I don't like em,,I can roll some caps,, as I wired it in such a way so I can do so,if that makes sense.I'll post some pics in a bit.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)
-
Okay,, a few pic's,,I removed the stock caps and soldered wire to the PCB,,then mounted the caps(size does matter guys ) on the sides(inside) of the chassis,,so,, if I want to roll caps,I can,,the last two pic's are her warmin' up--seems good to go,so I'll hook her up and report back. The caps used are Russian K-40 military grade paper in oil,,IIRC the case is conductive,,wrap job performed by my wife(elec tape). I suppose I could have started a new thread eh?
Brock--you have the nicest pictures--a sincere thanks to you and Kieko for the tube links and suggestions.Got my Brimar ordered.Oh yeah,, gotta put the Sylvania's back in.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -
-
thank you sir--those big A$$ caps that I popped in it really seem to add a little more "shimmer" at first impression,,very smmoth,,already a great pre in stock form,,next up,,some tube rolling,,Brimar rectification.speaking of Brimar,,I had some awhile back,,the 12AU7 varients,,IIRC 13D5,,and they were spectacular,,I'll look around and see if they have any AT7 varients.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Thanks George, it's just a point and shoot Canon and a steady hand. Here's a few of her up and running with the Bendix 6106 rectifier.
Brimar makes some 12AT7 Variants but they are outta sight in price.
Brimar 6060's with the Yellow "T" are the Holy grail of British tubes, the Red/Orange "T" are just a little bit less. They are as good as the famed and ultra pricey Genelax A2900 almost unobtainium.

Brimar makes a 13D9 tube which is a 12AT7 variant.

Dear All,
I have an old version (2005 I think). I'd like to do some modifications such as replace the stock cap with Auricap or other, stock 12AT7 with better tubes. Anything else will improve the sound?
Many thanks in advanced. -
Many thanks for your advice, Keiko. I will try to replace the stock caps and stock Chinese tubes.
-
If it's and old version you probably have auricaps._________________________________________________

Hi Ricardo,
My version is Chinese version for Chinese or Asia market. Dared put 2 "cheap" Chinese caps rather Auricaps. -
Cute little pre!Goerge what did they use for the output coupling caps? You may want to look at upgrading those as well.
-
Fred, in my Dared (2005 model), the (3) larger Black caps appear to be Nichicon, the smaller brown caps and smaller black cap are Sanwa brand. George has the schematic and he's going to send it to me so I'm not sure which of those are output coupling caps.

I don't have a schem. but I guestimate they are the larger yellow Carli film caps shown in your pic ,a paralleled pair per side.Georges pic show smaller blue ones.
-
Fred-- schems e-mailed--Brock,,still waiting on you e-mail addy.Sorry for the delay guys,, some clown decided to ignore a stop sign and hit me while I was on the way home.
If I am understanding the schematics--the output coupling caps are 1uF x two each channel. (400 volt)JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -

I hope you are alright George. I should have bought those Dared boards off Ebay. Then I could re-populate them and swap them out. I might contact the guy as see if he still has them.
I'm guessing you're correct Fred in mine it appears to be the square yellow Carli caps. Perhaps those are worth swapping for something more exotic.

I'm thinking some Obbligato Gold 1uF @ 630v. I'll have to check the dimensions.
or maybe a Clarity ESA 1uF @ 630v

yep-- I'm running out of real estate in there(the Dared),,I'll take a peek tonight, ideally,a small oil or poly cap would be nice,,or teflon,,,for me,,just getting to the spot on the board can be difficult,,as I was not able to completely remove it.
Thanks also guys--I'm fine--car is drivable-- damaged passenger door/quarter panel-- I came close to avoiding him.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -
If they are in series couldn't one just double the value of a single cap and jumper the other position, giving a bit more room? My electronics memory is a little foggy on parallel vs series circuits at the moment.
