been thinking about going smaller since we moved into a place that has a smaller family room. Does anyone have experience or hard the RTi side by side with the Def tech mythos

I have RTi10, FXi5, CSi5 that I'm thinking of switching out for some Mythos Five, Six and Seven. I have a Velodyne DPS-12 that I'm using with the RTi and will be keeping it with the new setup. I want to go smaller in size but not smaller in sound

I've never heard the Mythos 5,6, or 7's but I've owned the RTI a5,7,9's and Mythos ST towers, & 10's. I do like the tweets on the Def Techs a lot better. They sit right in between the bright rti's and the laid back LSI's. Also they seem to be much more musical than the rti's and with a decent sub can rock for HT. I'd say get your ears on them then decide.

I never did a side by side with the Rti's and Mythos series but I have a tone of experience with both.
As Leroyr1 said, they are way more musical and detailed over the Rti line. The Mythos line is in another class. They are the perfect double duty speaker being very musical and crazy theater like.
If you decide to go with the Mythos line from Rti , your in for a treat. Everything you like about the Rti line will be there but improved in every way.
No smaller sound with the Mythos line. I suggest checking out the Mythos STS and get rid of the floor sub as well. This will give you a small foot print and 2 subs. Mythos 9 center channel and a pair of Gem's for the surrounds and your done.

I agree with the others. The RTi's are definitely good speakers but the Mythos are incredible. Warm, detailed and very musical.

Wow, my RTi speakers are pretty much the biggest of what I can get in this Polk series and you're saying that the Mythos are generally better overall? I think I'm gonna jump in with both feet on this one. Small front print + better sound = perfect.
