Virtue Audio 901 Sensation w/Gary Dodd Tube Buffer

I was going to go straight to A?gon with this, but maybe see if anyone wants it here first? This is Virtue Audio's top integrated - the 901 Sensation. It is a Tripath amp design. This one carries the optional $300 Gary Dodd Tube Buffer. Tube in the unit is the stock tube. Power supply is the upgraded 30v/130w, standard Auricaps, plastic remote and original packaging. I?m sorry to see it go because it?s the most beautiful amp I?ve ever had in my system, but I believe I?m going to try all tubes next. It is in excellent condition. I am the second owner. Double-boxed - $950 shipped CONUS.

    This is one of the hottest Tripath amps built, but I have yet to hear it...

    What speakers were you driving with it?

    We drove TL3's and a wireless sub with it at LSAF, and it was PERFECT.

    Jake, I am driving Zu Audio Soul Superfly's with it right now. I don't know if I'm the best judge to ask how it sounds, because both the Zu's and the Virtue are very particular in what works with them. Put them with the wrong thing and they sound off, put them with the right thing, and it's magical. I don't find these two mixing well together, but there's a-lot of info on Audiocir & Agon and they seem to have quite a following. Not sure about your Klipsch?

    I will say it is one of the smoothest amps I've ever heard through the frequency range. It is extremely coherent and even. I find it doesn't add or take away anything that's not supposed to be there.

    That's a wonderful piece of gear.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Very nice! They also have the retro looking chassis with the columns - also very nice.

    I have been driving my Soul Superflys with a tube amp (EE M520) and Peachtree Nova.

    Recently been thinking of trying a smaller amp for the hot summer months and Virtue is one of the few I am considering, but sounds like it may not be a good combination. And you are right about the Superfly being particular about amp pairing.
