Whats up everyone?
Smallville aired it's final episode last night and Clark finally is now Superman. This has been a great 10 year show and I'm gonna miss it. This was one of my favorites. Hero's , Battlestar Galactica and now Smallville are all gone. Tv isn't going to be the same.
What am I suppose to watch now? Sparticus I have no idea is anymore are going to be made , Californication is in the same boat and the new King Arthur Camelot is just so off I'm not sure if I like it or not. So far not really.

I feel beat
Dan

    You did not choose wisely.

    Boardwalk Empire
    Fringe
    House
    Breaking Bad

There's plenty of good stuff to watch on TV.

Then there are the reality shows like:
    Deadliest Catch
    Life on the Line
    Ax Men
    Gold Rush
    Operation Repo
    Parking Wars
    American Chopper

And if CMT ever gets around to making new episodes like they promise, Trick My Truck

Don't forget Swamp people, American Pickers and Pawn Stars. I gave up on Operation Repo when I found out it was re-enacted.

Swamp People is ok, not great but ok. At least IMO.

Can't stand American Pickers though. The skinny dude makes things out to be way more than they are. Glorified trash pickers. The short fat one seems completely inept and would be lost without over-zealous skinny guy. Kinda frustrating to watch it. Part of the charm is the weirdos they meet in their travels and they keep cutting away from the haggling to a studio view of the skinny dude saying: "Gotta break the ice! He said 20, I said 10, we met in the middle at 17! Sweet! Ice: BROKEN!" Yeah, dude, calm down, you didn't didn't do anything special there. Then they never tell you what it sold for, just what they valued it at.

And Operation Repo, the more dangerous ones are reenacted. Others are filmed live. You can tell which ones are reenacted 'cause of the reactions to the situations. They don't seem sincere. But, it's entertaining!

The one I did forget was Storage Wars! That show cracks me up!

I am a Superman fan also but I have pretty much hated Smallville after about the 5th or 6th season. I could care less that the show is over.

Currently finishing up Stargate Universe on Netflix. It's OK, I liked the other SG series more. I too need something new to watch. Maybe I will rewatch ST-DS9. I haven't watched Babylon 5 in a while either.

Wow why so much hate for Smallville? I can guess it's because they drug everything out , Clark didn't know who is was supposed to be , He basically hated his race , Lana stuck around to long , am I getting warm?

Yup, you nailed it pretty good. You can add de-emphasis on Superman and his abilities. Lois being super annoying. Chloe's super genius being almost a "deus ex machina". Tess mercer's character that went no-where. Clark getting stuck in impossible situations, but then *trivially* getting out. Frequent use of the reset-button alla Star Trek Voyager. Getting rid of Lex (maybe it was actor availability related, but still). Could go on but I think you get the point.

Overall the writing was simply dull. It's not the point that Clark will get out of any sticky situation, it's how he does it that differentiates good from bad writing. The beginning of the series was way more interesting IMO. Loved it. The last few seasons I almost stopped watching.

Of course, this is just my opinion. Wife still liked the show all the way to the end. She loved watching the relationship between Lois and Clark develop. For me it got as annoying as the last few episodes of "Lois and Clark" when they brought out marriage and the baby. Too sappy, not enough Superman.

So you actually do care that the show is over then?

I'm with you Dan. But I'm a sucker for anything DC or Marvel, I grew up with the comics. In fact I learned how to 'read' on my own from comic books before I was taught in public schools (yeah I come from a good old immigrant working class family whose son actually 'learned' a lot in the public school system--remember the good old days?).

My daughter, who is 13 thinks I'm a nerd because I watch things like Smallville and other Sci-fi shows?

You're not alone Dan. I wouldn't say Smallville was the greatest thing I've seen but I found 'most' episodes enjoyable. But then again, I watched Babylon 5, Battle S-Galactica (new version), Stargate, various versions of Star Trek, and you can fill in the rest. I even watch when things get 'bad' out of 'desperation' for quality Sci-fi.

Prepare to be disappointed by the final episode of SGU. It's basically a season-end cliffhanger, not a series finale. Hopefully they'll do a movie to wrap it up later, 'cause it's horribly unsatisfying. Shame it got canned, because it was actually getting very exciting toward the end.
