Sound Bar & HDMI trouble

Hello,

I hooked up a Polk IHT for my GF. Her TV is older & only has 1 HDMI input. I hooked up the IHT with analog composite cable from the TV audio out. Her Blu-Ray is hooked up with component cables, Wii with composite, and her HD DVR with HDMI. Had no problems with anything from the Blu-Ray including BR, DVD, CD, MP3, Netflix, & Pandora or Wii...sounds great for the $$$, but as soon as I turned on the DVR it F*****d up and will no longer display any output through the HDMI. I hooked the DVR up to another TV...nada, hooked the Blu-Ray via HDMI to the original TV...nada. Rebooted the DVR, exchanged HDMI cables and still no output. But the DVR works fine when connected via composite & component cables I tried.

Handshake problem due to digital to analog?

Fried the HDMI ports on both the TV & DVR? (Nothing was powered on, static?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

Do you have another HDMI cable to check that idea? If another cable doesn't work, try using another output choice to get signal from anything, Component for example.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Try rebooting your DVR with the HDMI cable connected (unplug for 30 sec.). You can check to see if your DVR has the latest firmware update. Double check the settings in the menu of the DVR and TV.
    Good luck! Let us know?

    thanks for your responses...

@ dorokusai: the DVR does work with both composite & component cables but not with HDMI

@ stjefrey: I will try that next, will post results later. The TV is a bargain basement Emerson (Funai) I could not find any mention in the manual or in the menus for HDMI port settings or on/off toggling, the DVR is from Directv same boat as the TV. I connected the DVR to another TV with a different HDMI cable with no change but did not attempt a hard reboot 1st, I will try that too.
