A few months ago I posted my interested in the new SDA xover boards. So I have to say Im sorry for not buying them when they became avalable.:frown:
I may need every penny I have because.....
I have come to a crossroads of furture employment. The store Ive been working at for the last ten tears is moving due to the fact that they are being booted out of the retail property by the landlord for being behind in the rent for three years straight...There is no excuse for this since the store has gross sales of 65-75 thousand a MONTH when the students are in town.I will be meeting with the owner of the building in a week or two about taking over the new space. He is going to gut the property and convert two thirds of it into an apartment so I will be left with about 600 square feet of space if I choose to lease it.Its important to note that the building houses over 600 college students so the sales are there. And the kids have direct access to the store without having to go outside.(Milk,bread,bacon,eggs,cereal,soda,sports/energy drinks, etc, etc.)And of course food service but very limited due to space restrictions. The problen I have is start up costs.....
To make the decision even more diffucult I was offered a job by someone Ive known for 15 years delivering Boars Head products to the sillinsgrove, danville area.A good starting salary @ 500/wk that only gets better with a 50/wk raise every year and 100 doller raise the fourth plus full benifits paid for by him.Its caps at 750 a week but he gives the drivers a commision after 4 years of employment with him.Not bad at all.Im just not sure of the driving a big box truck around for 8-10 hours a day.Plus I would have to move and sublet my apartment. And buy a car. Pros and cons to either choice.

As far as the current owners not paying the rent on time.. Lets just say they have a problem with drinking and gambling. The term white trash rednecks is a good description.

So Im sorry gimpod.I will buy a set when I figure out what to do.Id like to have my own store since Ive been doing it for so long not to mention I handle all the ordering of product for the place and know what sells and how much.I have enough money to stock it but the equipment I will need is a concern.Small grill, fryer, slicer, storage freezor and cooler, sandwich table, ventless hood system, etc, etc, etc. And lets not forget all those hidden costs.

If you do go into business, buy all of your "Small grill, fryer, slicer, storage freezor and cooler, sandwich table, ventless hood system, etc, etc, etc.' used.

I would say go into business, hire a couple college kids to run the place AND do the Boars-Head thing.... This way you get to buy the best for a big discount.

Hey man no apology needed, I said I'd hold a pair for you and I'm sticking to it. That is unless there my last pair and someone offers me $1000.00 for them then your screwed.

Having your own business can be fun and profitable, also a butt load of work but worth it. Good luck with which ever way you decide to go.

However, it does not feel like such when you are working for your self and like what you do. When I had my own repair shop, I never felt like I was going to work and it was 6 days+ a week, I miss that at times.:frown:

fbm211, GL and hopefully enjoy your self as much as I did!
