For sale is this B&K Ref. 50 S2 in silver surround preamp. It has been on display since new as a demo piece in a home theater shop, and will come with remote, unit, and power cord. The item is in working order, there is no manual or original box for it. If shipped, unit will be properly packed. I'm including the link on this item for additional info. Please ask any questions.

What version of firmware?

Not sure, but I'll ask them, should get a response today. They normally archive everything, so if they ever did upgrades for a client they probably have the files. Is there a software version preferred? -
This is one of those preamps that a audiophile style theater setup could benefit. Now you will be required to have your own HDMI switcher and then use from blu ray analog out. Other HDMI sources will require a Digital coax or Optical for all you audio needs digital.
At times I have personally considered using the 50s2 as I came across a few of them in our swap sale.
Good luck with the sale , such a quality hi fi sounding preamp. One could even use it for 2 channel only , it's that good.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -

Thanks Mantis!
It was used in two channel setups at the shop as well as surround, SACD/DVDA setups with a silver 200.7. -

jjk,
The guys at the shop weren't sure as the techs did the upgrade and the unit is in the stockroom at the moment. It was updated in October 2010, and I was reassured that if there is another update it would be completed before shipping. I'm still waiting to see if someone else can take a jog to the stockroom adn just power it up and tell me the firmware version. -
You can simply power it up and find out what version is loaded.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Hence my last sentence. I was texted v1.03. Please let me know if there is a newer update for it. -
I'm almost certain they are at least to version 2.03, but I'm not sure if this is for S1 or S2
-
I had a S2 that I sold last year. Firmware was 1.02I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

No need, you were correct as usual. Just took a while for someone to do it for me. Thank you for the assist! -
I have the series 1 and it has firmware 2.03. Not sure if the series 2 is different or not, but thought it might help.Shawn

maingey your pm box is full...
I received the unit and it works great.
I did not receive the cable or software to program the remote...
Is there any way you could have the shop send this?
I don't think I can program the remote without it.
Anyone have any ideas about how to get the cable or software?
Thanks,
Ed -

Ed,
I made my cable, very simple.
The manual for the remote shows you what pins to use & all you need to know. Good luck.
