What is the difference in function between interconnects and cables? I understand there may be a quality difference between products called interconnects and ones called cables, but they preform the same function, right?

    I think cables refer to cables for speakers and interconnects refers to cabling between components ie: a cable between an amp and pre-amp.

    And,

    IC = integrated circuit

    That is the first translation my brain does when I see 'IC' in a sentence. Then it goes to the cable definition. :rolleyes:

    Ok, thank you. I'm used to calling interconnect cables by their connection type, i.e. HDMI, component, RCA, etc.
