Upgrade from RT800's?
Posted this in 2 channel audio but thought this might get more traffic.
I'm looking to possibly my old Polk RT800 floorstandings to the TSI500 series or maybe something else. Mainly for various different types of music, would I notice a big difference in quality? What are your thoughts and recommendations. I am currently powering these with a Denon 4311.
The upgrade would be primarly for an increase in quality of 2 channel audio music playback but for the record I have a CS400 center and 4 Tc80i surrounds.

I would not expect a huge upgrade going from the older RT series to the new TSi. You may get a different sound, but I would not expect the upgrade to be huge, probably not worth the effort for me.
A move to the RTiA series or even the LSi line would yield more significant results. -
If I owned the RT800's and wanted a affordable upgrade ,I would seriously look at the RTiA7's. I have found when the RTia series came out , polk has made some really nice sound improvements not to mention appearance is nicely upgraded.
I believe you will enjoy these speakers.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
As mentioned, RT800 to TSI500 is a lateral move at best, I'd consider it a slight downgrade actually, even with the age of the 800's taken into consideration.
Go to A7's as suggested, or perhaps spend the money on the back end, and upgrade the gear instead.

I still own a pair of RT800's for my living room setup and had some monitor 60's in my theater room. I honestly liked the Monitor series better, it's not a huge upgrade like the Rti a or Lsi's would be, but I think you'd be happy with them. Like everyone said, it's just a different sound.
