Chime in if you like, but I noticed other threads like this
Thanks for stoppin' by though.

Anybody have any experience using cable risers to lift cable from the carpet? Noticed them while crusin' around Maplshade. They are not very costly, but I was just wondering what, those who have tried them, experienced soundwise, and what type was used.

Yes I have Installed them many times. The idea is to keep the cable away from static. Thats all. They work but I'm no fan. Unless you have bad static problems you don't need them. They look cool.

Wool carpet is terrible with static. Depends on the cable too. If you use unshielded cables, they may be more prone to picking up static. For the most part, as Dan said, not needed for most.

    Check my thread here: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99825&highlight=porcelain+cable

Inexpensive. Also see my showcase for pics of them in action. Do they make a difference? I dunno, but they certainly can't hurt.

The link in the original thread doesn't work anymore; try this one, and scroll towards the bottom of the page for less expensive pin insulators:

Looks like they've gone up a couple bucks--but still way cheaper than buying thru an audio store. This one:

Be patient, shipping is slow. I think mine took 2 weeks to get to me.

Use this number instead, the other one requires a minimum order of 100ea:

Don't you miss the days when you could edit an older post?
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Yep, never understood the logic behind the decision to lock posts down.
