jstas, you were one of the posts that told the truth.

you were the one that informed that corn syrup has been readily available forever, but you are welcome anyway

It was sarcasm. All of it. You came way outta left field with all of that and went well beyond the original intent of the thread, to share something humorous.
    I kinda got carried away.

Its just frustrating, seeing people refer others to the paragon of truth, arianna huffington, to root out whats really important to our country, exposing this sugar peddling taxpayer supported industry over that sugar peddling tax payer supported industry.

But i did kinda go overboard.

I already stated that "The Huffington Post" was not necessarily the best reference but it seems to be one of the few references available about the change. Apparently, it's not newsworthy enough for most. Either that or they just aren't using the same keywords I was. Either way, it an a means to an end to use "The Huffington Post" to give people a reference for the jokes that they may not have found funny otherwise.

Education does play into food and what people eat to a point.

However a lot of people tend to like to eat fast food, why? because we like fats, sugar, salts etc because they taste good. What happens when you give people who always drink regular soda something that is "diet" they think it has no taste etc.

Why do people put salt on items? to make them taste better. Why do people like butter than none, because it taste better.

People that are uneducated often are not going to make the best choices when it comes to diet. IE they look at the burger king menu and see that it only cost a buck rather than buying a pound of stuff that they then have to make at home and then try and eat but doesn't taste good.

A lot of people like that whole idea of I can drive up, request something and get it in 30 seconds vs going home and cooking after already working 15 hours pushing carts at a wally world.

    See the difference?

and this whole crap about it being HFCS vs real sugar vs whatever is getting stupid. Most people don't even read the labels anyways and probably the next thing will be that whole color #3 or whatever crap.

People need to learn to eat 5-6 times a day eating balanced meals with good carbs not processed crap that a cow once pooped out and that was then turned into candy by shoving it into a machine. Do some cardio, and pull themselves away from a talking box that just fills their head with crap on a daily basis and most would be fine. Yet we are too enthrawaled by the next American Idol winner to ever want to do something like that.

    blah.

I never thought much of labeling... but yesterday I bought some breaded chicken nuggets in a bag (just because I haven't had them in like 2 years) and I broke them in half before eating and found that they were BROWN inside... BROWN.... it looked like cooked brown yogurt.

I am now a bit interested in labeling requirements... like how much actual chicken has to be in the chicken to call it 'chicken'....

Sugar is sugar is sugar, and HFCS is NOT sugar. You can make sugar, it is a simple process one you could do at home, I recommend starting with sugar cane. To make HFCS on the other hand, you would need a truck load of corn, inedible dent corn (not the sweet glorious corn you grill in the summer) and a science lab!
I's a big dude, 6'4", I am also a fat dude, as fat as 330 in years past currently down to about 280 (working to see 260). The industrialization of food is a blessing and a curse. Without the modern processes we could not feed 6 billion people, but therein lies the real debate, is this orb sustainable at that level of population?

Sugar is bad- I don't care what it's called or what it's made from.
It's kinda like those new fry oils. I guess it's more healthy,
since now everyone's fries taste like crap, so I stopped eating them.
Healthy french fries and healthy sugar is nonsense.

I don't even want to watch that video.

After watching Jamie Oliver's food revolution....I believe it was the second show ever, I saw what went into a "processed" chicken nugget. I have since taken 2 bites of one and either returned the meal or left. Technically it's chicken, but come on man.

Regardless of which sweetener is better for you, the sweetness of high fructose corn syrup is not as good as cane sugar, period. HFCS sweetness lingers in your mouth, whereas cane sugar is a fast "hit" of sugar in your mouth and goes away quicker. Being a Type 1 diabetic for 26 years, I also know a little about how each type of sweetener affects your blood sugar. I can tell you that the HFCS is the same as the sweetness. It lingers in your blood stream and takes longer to be picked up by insulin and converted into glycogen or glucose by your liver. From my experience, cane sugar is a much better sweetener than HFCS. I go out of my way to get the "throwback" Pepsi producs and Dr. Pepper because they have real sugar in them, not HFCS. I would follow your taste buds and get cane sugar, but that's me........

I got one of those Coke's with Sugar, and agree 100 times better. So the question why is HFCS in your food, does it cost the manufacturer less to use it. If they wish to change to name, then I say follow the money. Because it can't be all that good for us, to consume in it.

Very true what you said! Honey is absolutely one of the best sweeteners for you. I can also say it is very good at raising you blood sugar quickly and have been given it many times to do so. Doesn't keep your blood sugar up extremely long, but raises it quickly.

Have you ever looked at a processed nugget before? You do know that in America, some companies add an anti-foaming agent because they have to process it so many times that it actually starts to foam. Most of what he put into the processor remains in American mechanically processed nuggets. I won't get into the other additives they use in America but yes, I still cringe.

You ever found a nugget that doesn't use pure breast meat that doesn't have what looks to be an air bubble pocket located all throughout it?......No?

Yeah, I thought so. Food for thought......literally.

We only buy Tyson, never noticed any air bubble pockets. I do prefer real chicken strips, but find these acceptable for a quick meal when there's no time to make the real thing.

Here's the ingredients of the one's we get:
100% all natural - no artificial ingredients
Boneless chicken breast and rib meat
    Water
    Salt
Breading (Wheat flour, corn flour, dried onion, dried garlic, spices, vegetable oil)
    No preservatives

There's plenty of food out there that's a lot worse for you.

any sugar, unless just a little used on something, such as syrup or jelly, is just bad news, especially if you arent going to burn it off immediately with physical exertion, but sugar is sugar is sugar.

Not a very intelligent statement there. Sugar isn't bad for you at all, in fact it's what keeps you alive. It's a little thing called glucose and guess what, it's a sugar. Sucrose (table sugar) and fructose (high fructose corn syrup) all get metabolized to glucose in the end.

If you're talking about what makes people fat, it's not sugar, it's calories in vs out. If I burn 3000 calories a day and I eat 2500, 1500 of which are from sugar, I still won't gain weight.
