SB3000 remote poor performance

Recently purchased surroundbar 3000 LOT 3013113. I was
shocked by the limited distance on the included remote control, I
programmed other remotes assuming the remote had a limited
range/emission, no such luck. The best range on all remotes is a max
distance of 8 feet. Given the high quality of your equipment and
reputation I cannot believe this is acceptable performance. Searching other
sites I noticed several others comments complaining about same IR remote limited range issues.
I tried various orientations of the receiver and shielded the sensor from
stray light sources, no change. I even went so far as modifying one of my
universal remotes adding a higher multiple output IR LED, no change. Any suggestions?

Same problem here and on the reviews for this product on Polks own site. They need to fix come up with a fix for this. Also if you try to press the volume up multiple time it will change the input channel. Might just have to return this and go to Sony or Klipsch.

I would suggest returning the SB3K and getting the SB6K. The 3000 is simply put not a great product and the 6000 is a totally different animal, with none of the inherent problems of the lesser unit....for not that much more money.

I've owned and demo'd both of them extensively.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

The eye is recessed too much which limits its response at lengths exceeding 6ft, if not less, from my experience. I would suggest you return it and get the SB6K instead since I've had much better success with that unit, to include setup and performance overall.

Returned the 3000 to Polk CA. for an IR receiver module replacement, after waiting the 2 weeks re-installed and observed same weak remote performance. Took dorokusai sage advice and exchanged for the 6000, I was especially won over after the in store demo of the remote performance with both bars on and the 6000 acknowledging all commands while the 3000 missed most. Thanks again dorokusai for the tip.

DRM - Great to hear that you are happy now. The SB3K quickly became a problem and showed its colors after hitting the market, not before to my knowledge. I don't have the answers as to why but I do know the ultimate fix based on product testing in-house and the complaints I forwarded to them are in-line with your experience.
