I just purchased this about few days ago. Love how little speakers can make such a clear and big noise. But I am having a problem playing "Saving Private Ryan(Blu ray)" in English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1(standard on blu ray disc).

I have my Digital optical cable connected from Sony BDP-BX37 to IHT 6000. When changing to French: Dolby Digital 5.1, Portuguese: Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish: Dolby Digital 5.1 works fine. Even I speak fluent French and Spanish, I would like to enjoy my movie like how I enjoy rest of my movies(original). Any advice would be helpful, it's a bit frustrating. I feel like I bought an out dated item that doesn't have hdmi

I tried with regular rca to headphone jack, but it doesn't sound good at all.

The IHT6000 only decodes regular Dolby Digital 5.1. It will not decode DTS, DTS-HD or Dolby Digital-HD.
You will have to go into the Disc menu and switch it to 2.0 for digital sound.

That doesn't sound good at all :( I expected to play all blu ray. I should just return the system and buy another sound bar that plays dts, unless there is a solution. Most of new blu ray disc you do not have an option for 2.0 digital sound, I should say all blu ray that are being released lately

Keep in mind to get DTS HD MASTER AUDIO, it can not be done over a optical cable. You need HDMI. You could do it all analog but you would need a player with analog outputs, a receiver with 5.1 analog inputs, and of coarse 5 speakers and a subwoofer.

Return the soundbar if it's not to your liking, save some cash for a receiver and speakers. If you buy used it can go along way in stretching your buck.

I recently purchased a Polk SurroundBar 6000. It was easy to set up and I am pleased with most of the sound particularly with music. My one concern at this time is that the owner's manual says the Source LED is supposed to turn solid Green when the Bar is receiving a Dolby Digital signal. I have tried playing Dolby Digital music as well as Dolby Digital movies and the LED remains Blue. I have my DVR cable box and a BluRay disc player both connected to my TV via HDMI cables. I am using the supplied Digital Optical Cable from the TV to the SurroundBar. Why am I not getting the Green LED with Dolby Digital sources?

Most TV's will not send the Dolby Digital signal through. They usually down grade to 2.0 PCM. You will have to connect a optical digital cable direct to the soundbar from your source (cable box or BluRay).

    stjefrey,
Thanks for the info. As much as I like the sound I am getting, I might have to return the SurroundBar. I have two digital sources to connect and only one digital input. I guess I should have been more thorough in my checking before I purchased. This is very
    disappointing.

Is there a lot of difference in sound quality in between great stereo anolog/headphone jack(monster cable) and digital optical cable when playing blu ray DTS format? I was thinking about returning this and get yamaha yht-s400, but I've always had polk audio speakers. I am going to try to make this work. Thank you for your kind replies. More advices would be very helpful. I don't know much about speakers but I like polk better than any other speaker brand.

Yes, a huge difference to dts hd master audio, but a soundbar won't cut it, or headphones. It's really a format geared more towards home theater but it does fantastic for audio also on concert blu rays. To really take advantage of what blu ray has to offer in audio, you need a receiver and the 5.1 speaker setup. If thats not in the cards, then your stuck with plain Dolby digital. Hook up the bdp by optical to any souround bar. You won't get the new surround formats that way but you should still get regular dts/dd.

It all depends on the person. I don't care to have all those speakers, wires, remotes, etc. I really liked the digital sound over the analog much better. It seems to sound more robust.
However, if you want the best quality sound, go with a receiver and the speakers.
