Audio Quest Rocket 33 speaker cable question.

I was wonding if anybody has tried the Audio Quest Rocket 33 speaker cables. Specifically the bi-wired ones terminated in banana plugs. I have seen / herd of people getting rid of the jumper strap and using a pice of speaker wire. Why not use a clable that has the "jumper" built in?

My current setup is a Onkyo 808 avr and RTI A7 speakers. I currently have them hooked up normally with the factory jumpers, and 12 gauge monster cable.

Would I see an improvement and what other speaker cables would you suggest?

thanks for your time

josh

    Hey jbooker82

Kimber Kable 12tc cost 700 dollars for a 10' pair , you could buy another pair of speakers. Audioquest is half that. For me Blue Jean speaker wire.
    Check out their prices.

you'l hear a variety of opinions from cables make no changes to they make huge changes.

if your going to go down the cable road to find out yourself, start cheap. Kimber Cable = fail.....at least to start (or for me, hell will have a raging snowball fight before I pay 700 for cables)

don't hesitate to go used on cables either. check audiogon or ebay.....don;t break the bank though. don;t even think of breaking 100 to start (and even thats alot)

the monster 12 gage is very good cable, it;s jut the company and there practices i hate. not to mention I hav had there 12 and 14 guage wire oxidize faster than other cable I have owned.

bluejeans cable, as mentioned below, is a great cable at a great price. do a search here for diy cable and don't be afraid to go that route. seriously, If I can do it, so can you.

So the monster cable I have now is good, just made by a company that has business practices.

I guess maybe I should hold off on the cables, and put the money twards a good amp, unless I find a some good used ones for a desent price.

Your Monster cable is fine for now. Put the money towards a good amp. If you do want to try something else, here's a good place for speaker wire on the cheap: http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/category/SpeakerWirePins/Speaker-Wire-Connectors/1.html

Certainly go for a amp before getting carried away with speaker wires because the road of wire is long and can be never ending.
