Def Tech speakers

Thinking about selling my beloved Def Tech Mythos system consisting of:
*Mythos ST towers w/ built in powered subs
*Mythos Ten center channel
*Mythos Gem XL
I have all the original boxes, manual and the purchase receipts. Bought the ST towers in December 2010, Mythos Ten & Gem XL's in January of this year. All pieces are in perfect condition(9.5/10) with zero scratches or dings.
Asking $3100 local pickup preferred but shipping could be pricey.

I also have a Pioneer Elite SC-27 if anyone wants a package deal. Its in great condition with original box and manual. System sounds outstanding and I'll throw in a Pioneer Blu ray player for free if complete system is purchased.

Interested in selling just the AVR by itself?

I'd have to sell the speakers first.
Thanks -
Look at you , so whats next? The ST's are a very hard act to follow. I'm having all kinds of problems convincing myself to let mine go. My system is almost exactly like your except I have 10's for rears instead of Gem XL's which make better surrounds for both music and movies , especially music like SACD.
I'm leaning Totem but I'm afraid of losing my awesome dynamic theater sound that I grown to love.Dan

O and your prices are retarded , basically you get the ST's at a super discount and a free center and surround speakers. Someone should jump on this before he changes his mind and backs out of the deal.Dan

Really nice set up. What are you 'upgrading' to leroy? I assume part of it is a 3D AVR or separates? You haven't had the set up long...if I upgraded at your 'speed' my wife would leave me...lol.
Great system for someone with a little extra coin.
But as Dan says....very nice pricing!

I did and I can tell you for music the Mythos ST's destroy the BP's of then. Now there is a brand new BP series in the 8080's ( got the 8080 center and rears) that I have not un boxed and installed on our showroom floor but they will and I will do a side by side in our theater room for both music and movies but we had the 7000 series and as good as they are for movies they didn't hold a candle for music.
Anyone else have any compare questions with the ST's I'm your guy. I have tested these speakers to the bone. Next up will be a full shoot out against the mighty Totem Hawks.
Opps sorry for hijacking this sale , but the ST's have a very special place for me.
Carry on.Dan

Just like Dan stated the mythos are a much better double duty speaker. I actually like the older 7000 bi-polar series better than the newer line. After auditioning many different manufacturers in Chicago and Wisconsin the Mythos by far were my favorite. I listened to
B&w CM9 series
Paradigm Studio 100 series
Monitor Audio forget the series
Polk Lsi series
Klipsch RF series
Klipsch Palladium series( which I bought also)
Focal
I'm sure I'm forgetting some other brands.
And while the Mythos wasn't the best in one specific area it was my favorite all around speaker. Yes there's better out there but at what cost? -

Right now just the p-17 bookshelves. If the Mythos sell I'm moving the 17's to surround duty and I have someone holding the p-37's for me. Would love to get the 39's but $20,000 is waaaaay over my budget. -

Good luck with your sale, that is a great price, if I was local I would consider picking up another set of ST's just for the heck of it. I auditioned most of the same speakers you did and also came to the conclusion that some did certain things better, but none of them did as much as well as the Mythos. I had the upgrade bug for the last couple months and just auditioned some Aerials, B&W 803s, Paradigm S6 and 100s, Martin Logan Spires, and Sonus Faber Cremona Ms.
For stereo use I would say that some of the above did a much better job at music, but at a very significant cost in terms of the price of the speakers and associated gear that it took. Most of the demos were off of Classe, Audio Research, Anthem, Primare, McIntosh, and Arcam gear in the 10-25K range. And that, is the main difference to me in comparison to the Mythos that can provide a great HT experience and good music performance from a 1-3K receiver.
I think my next favorite combo was the Arcam AVR600 and Studio 100's, CC590, and ADPs. This combo was far less than the others and cost significantly less. However, I am extremely happy with my Mythos and iDecco as a perfect stereo system that incorporates a stellar experience, powered subs, ability to use your ipod as a music server, and the pre-tubed stage really gets the Mythos where you want them to be. It would take so much more money to get even close to what that simple and economic setup can do. No matter what my next system is, my Mythos and an iDecco or iNova will remain, period.
In summary, this is a great deal. lol -
Why do I keep coming in here and looking? I don't need a second pair , ok maybe I want them somewhere...... I hate this thread.Dan

I'll give it another week, and if no interest I'm going to pull the ad. Watched a movie last night and was amazed and started asking myself why am I selling these.

Kind of a strange question, but are you willing to sell only 1 of the mythos ST towers?

Yes, (1) for $2200 or (2) for $2200. Take your pick.
