Hey now, I friggin love my Zune lol..... Its SWEEETTT.....

that and I hate the incremental upgrades of Ipods. They add one feature that should have been there to start and entice you to re-buy the same product w/ one or two more features tops.....

Why are you happy that the product line is dead? Do you work for Apple or own Apple stock?

As Demi alluded to, less competition for an already dominant player makes me sad...

And a buddy of mine was in a couple of their commercials (the DJ scratching commercials) so that was cool too.

    Pretty much what demo said...

Your desire for zune to go down is both immature and shortsighted, like the very existence of the zune was somehow a detriment to you...

I had ALOT of Zune product and I sold it all when they came out with a stupid update that made my media library useless. Whatever it was - it made it where you could no longer convert lossless to the appropriate size for the Zune. Could no longer add songs.

    Spent HOURS on tech support.

Sold it to some folks on EBay and they had no issues.

Loved the product though, it was good stuff.

The large storage music only device market is dying and it is being replaced by smart phones, in addition the Zune had 1% market share at best. Lets call it for what it was, a dead player walking. The Zune software continues, which has some very nice features, and if M$ had a brain would make a remote app, I believe would make for a fine music server program.

In the overall picture, the death of the Zune player is non-event and has zero impact on the remaining portable music players.

Simply put I am tired of people saying how zune is going to over take ipod. And not believing me that zune was going to be done. Zune is a joke imo especially the software.

I don't have a Zune, but I do have a WinPhone 7 phone that has all the Zune features. Really like it, and definitely prefer the software over iTunes. And honestly, WinPhone 7 = WAY more useful than iPhone or Android to me so far.

Curious what you like about it over Android. I've never used a Win 7 phone, so the question is not a bashing. Just curious.

I mostly just like how at-a-glance it is. The tiles I pin to my main screen update constantly, so if I want to check text messages, calls, e-mails, people's Facebook statuses, etc., it all updates right there to the tiles... so most of the time, I can just swipe the lock screen, look at the main screen, then click it off. Sounds like a ridiculous thing... but it's just way more intuitive and fast than any of the widgets on the Android. Could just be me though.

The few things I don't like about it (like no cut-and-paste, no quick app switching and no using MP3s for ringtones) are being patched in to the OS soon the way the original iPhone was... so we'll see how robust they make this thing. Still, as it stands now, it has really worked well for me. And as an Xbox Live gamer, I really dig the Xbox Live integration on the phone (and getting achievement points on-the-go, which I admit is retarded... but there you go).

Anyhow... if I really understand the strategy on this, Zune is "dead" as a stand-alone device, and is now only being supported in phones... Isn't an iPhone also an iPod? For many people, stand-alone devices aren't as practical. I'd rather just grab my phone than have to carry a music player, a camera, etc... I'm perfectly happy with the player in my Android phone. Sure, Apple iPhones and Windows Phones are great solutions for some.

I think they saw that largely people don't want to carry around a dedicated MP3 player and their phone when they can get by with just one. Just one device is a true option with the Zune Pass.

As for iTunes being better software than Zune, you seem to be in the minority opinion there. I use both software platforms and there isn't anything I can think of that I prefer iTunes for over Zune software.

My 1st-gen Zune got me through my deployments in Iraq and I loved it.

Had an iPod shortly after that in CONUS (was a gift) and through normal use it **** the bed. My Zune is still alive and kicking though I don't use it. Got a free iPod touch which forever stays in the car, simply because my headunit is ipod/iphone-friendly. Wish I could put my Zune to use......

My point? Zune > iPod IMO.

What are you basing your "like something that works better and has a nice interface..." off of? I've tried both Zune and iTunes, and I think they're both terrible. Of course, my music collection is only around 1000 or so songs, so I'm not an expert by any stretch of the word.

And sorry based on your initial post, "fanboi" perfectly describes your attitude when typing that. Hindsight is 20/20 after all.
