That is my belief as well. You won't notice a difference in the bill, and it will function on 3G. My phone, thus far, has had no issues switching 4G to 3G and back.

How spoiled am I already? Today at work, where I am not under 4G, I made my friends laugh by yelling out... "UGGG! 3G sucks!!!" :D

Verizon is just getting what Sprint has had for a few months. Love my EVO. Enjoy the Thunderbolt... its basically an EVO with the LTE radio I think.

actually much better than the EVO. I has the new version of the snapdragon that has way better benchmarks, it has much better graphics, and more ram.
    i also have the EVO

What kinds of speeds do yinz get on Sprint's 4G?

I am averaging 15 down/5 up on Verizon LTE.

    long time no post...

Finally jumped in the smartphone waters with the Thunderbolt when it came out. Love the phone, even though I do not get 4G where I work/live. Just downloaded the app "Tasker" today... holy crap! This phone is amazing! I refused to get a smartphone on Verizon since I deemed it not worth the $30 unlimited data charge. Managed to finagle myself into a $10 unlimited plan so I got the Thunderbolt. I think I would pay $30 now!

Anyone else use Tasker? Looking for creative ways to automate my smartphone further.

Yes, do tell us the voodoo magic you performed. I'm with Verizon still, but I'm not under contract. I'm about to jump on my girlfriends plan, and when I do that, I'll be choosing a new phone (may hold out to see how the iPhone 5 looks this summer).

As you know, I have been in the same boat as you with the data plan prices being way too high for what you actually get compared to other services.

    Curious!

sorry. Now I feel guilty for not sharing this with you guys when I got it. Anyways, the plan/promotion is no longer available (ended in Jan), but if you want to torture yourself you can see the details here:

    https://email.vzwshop.com/servlet/website/ResponseForm?OSPEUT_9_9_z_UU_0Hsr_.2eHmH_wkhthE

It was a targeted promotion but many people, including me, were able to get the promo just by calling in, asking for it nicely, playing dumb, threatening to leave, etc. Even more amazing is it seems to have locked me in for 4G data pricing as well. If you are on a family share low minute, low/no texting plan it might not have saved you that much money though, and all lines have to have data.

Again, really sorry for not sharing. My work has completely killed me since about October of last year, otherwise I would have remembered to share with my fellow polkies. :frown:

Picked up my new Thunderbolt today, wife's phone crapped the bed and I was up for a upgrade so this is what I went with and gave her my Samsung. Still trying to get used to all the tasks this phone is capable of but so far I really like the phone.

The company supplies me with a Blackberry and an air card right now. I am due for an phone upgrade in October and I am thinking about the iPhone when it comes out. Verizon sent me an e-mail last week to upgrade my air card to 4g. So I am waiting for the Jetpack MiFi wireless hotspot to be delivered. It could come today so I am interested to see what kind of speeds I'll be getting on the 4g networks.
