That is one area where you just have to hand it to Apple, they do have excellent customer service. At the prices they charge they can afford it, but its still nice to see a company out who has good CS.

I'm loving my iPad 2. I've been playing the **** out of some Infinity Blade and Garageband.

It's ridiculous how much better this thing is than anything else I've played with...

By the way, the bigger question I have is, where the hell did they find an iPad 2 to replace it with? You can't find those things anywhere now.

iPads are phenomenal. So many friends that are Apple haters, hate themselves for liking my iPad so much.

The guy at Apple said the one he gave me shouldn't have even existed since they are sold out everywhere. Then again, the white 64GB 3G is one of the least sought after because it is too much for most.

I will gladly pay a premium for this incredible level of customer service. However, the iPad is very competatively priced.

    Absolutely amazing service.

I've had good experiences with them with my iphones... but I hear it's a different story with computers. my neighbor ordered an imac online at apple after already having bought a mac pro (over 6 grand) and a macbook. The imac arrived with a bad display, and they gave him hell just to get a replacement. He had to wait a month with shipping, ect. They wouldn't let him just exchange it at the store.

Also, the service level seems to depend on the service rep. I had some dingy **** phones replaced without question, but I had to pay $200 when my headphone jack was loose... they claimed physical damage even though there was little physical damage to the phone (and it clearly didn't cause the loose jack).

    ^ LOL.

Anyone done a side-by-side shoot-out between the two other than the above. Would love to see how many apps there are in the Android market and how fast this device is.

Of course their comparison is a joke, but there are a couple things worth noting.

First, I had a Viewsonic G-Tablet, actually traded it in for the iPad 2. There's no comparison between the two devices, the iPad 2 is just a significantly better device, regardless of how much it hurts me to say it.

At the price I pad for the G-Tablet ($400 at Sears 2 weeks ago) it was a no brainer to spend $100 more and get the iPad2. At the $280 that woot is asking for though, that decision becomes a little more difficult. Now that I've handled both there's no way I'd trade down for the G-Tablet even if it was free, but that $280 is certainly an attractive price point.

The screen and viewing angles on the Viewsonic are just horrendous, and that's really sad coming from a display maker. At the end of the day, that's really the only thing that made me return it. I knew about it going in but thought 'it can't be that bad', but it was.

I would rate those categories differently:
Style - iPad, it's a thinner, lighter, cleaning looking device.
Media - Draw, both devices play every format I need.
Connectivity - Draw, they're both wifi and it works equally well on each
    Bluetooth - iPad
    Expandability - G-Tablet
Apps - iPad, no contest, it's really not even fair to compare them
    Flash - G-Tablet
Guts - Ipad, it's a faster, better built, lighter, thinner device.

They are still running Froyo on that tablet, which is designed for cell phones, rather than Honeycomb. So you can get a lot of cool Android apps but they will all be mobile phone versions, scaled up to the screen. Honeycomb is specifically designed for tablets, so hopefully they will update that device but then native apps have a very long way to catch up to the amount of native iPad apps.

As far as the specs, it is using the same CPU and amount of RAM as the iPad 2 but with a significantly slower GPU.

In short, that tablet is a great deal but software is lacking in regards to app selection and reviews have said it can be rather sluggish. (Most likely due to the dated OS running on it.)

The app selection in the market place is good on Android, just not alot of tablet specific apps and the OS for the tablet isn't even tablet specific. If Honeycomb drop for this device that will change. The question is probably more 'when' than 'if', but there are no guarantees, and with alot more android tablet coming out soon the devs are probably going to abandon the viewsonic.

The viewsonic is plenty quick, speed is not an issue on that device. There are really two issues with the device.

1 - the bundled GUI and software is crap, but luckily with about 30 minutes of your time and some readidng you can change that by installing another ROM, I tried TNT Lite and it worked great.
2 - As noted above, and really the only issue I have with the device, the viewing angles on the display are just horrible. If you hold it directly in front of your face then screen has a good picture, but as soon as you start to turn it off axis at all it becomes an issue. This turned out to be a bigger issue than I originally thought.

I'm watching all of you guys enjoy your iPad 2's and I remember last year getting lambasted by many for suggesting that the people who were knocking it, give it a try. I have not taken the plunge yet. Not because I don't want it, I just haven't had the disposable funds yet. Enjoy the Pad guys.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I am really not in need of an iPad or the G-Tablet. Got the wife a nook-color for ebooks and she loves it. I have an ipod touch 4G and like it but being locked into Apple's world is rather limited. I jailbroke my device and am enjoying it more. Still, I wish I didn't have to do something the manufacturer disapproves of simply to enjoy my device. Apple's approval is important for firmware updates. I also wish Apple supported Flac, easier file transfer, and better office apps out of the box.

It's taken me 3 months to get the device to be this level, but there are still some quirks. That's why I had to question whether or not the Android market was any better. It seems like the consensus is... Apple makes a great but sometime frustrating and expensive product. The Android devices are nice but their market is more for smartphones since the tablet market is still developing.

Anyone figure out yet how to set the time signature of a song when you create in Garageband, default appears to be 4/4 and I want something different?

Anyone got a spare iPad they want to sell for $100-200? :)

I'd like to get an iPad, but unfortunately it's not worth 300+ to me, which is the lowest I can find it on craigslist.

Just thought I would throw this in there. I found a great app that allows the Ipad to connect to your PC/MAC over your network. The App is called Filebrowser, whats's neat is that it allows the Ipad to access a NAS, PC etc in order to access pics, music files, video and stream directly to the Ipad. Awesome & well worth the 2.99. Check it out. Working it right now with Windows 7. Can see all my music, pictures, video with no problem.

Good to know, at this point I have all my media in iTunes and the iPad is actually able to see my entire iTunes library over wifi and I'm able to stream for that. This is nice because it's built int, your method is nice because you can see things that are not in iTunes.

The iPad 2 is 33 percent thinner than its predecessor, at a mind-melting 8.8mm, and a little lighter at just over 600g, while acrylic job options acquire been expanded. Apple Retail Stores will alpha sales at the aberrant hour of 5PM, which will apparently accomplish online pre-orders the fastest way to get yours.
