I am going to sell my car and start practicing walking everywhere.

I figured I will save enough money not filling up my car and it'll offset the amount of money I can make for going to work.

No joke though. Gas is going to make the car ownership a luxury in the near future.

Thanks! It's just a new WRX though. Same body as the Sti but lacking all the extra Sti goodies. They are faster in a straight line because of the 5 speed gearing but don't hae the cool center diff to play with. They dyno at around 260 stock though so Subaru under rated them so as not to get too close to the Sti's 305, because then what's the point in spending the extra $8k right? :)

Yeah, I forgot they did that with the new WRX...they look very very close to the sti. Are they really faster in a straight line?

I had a 93 roadmaster wagon as a winter beater several years back. That thing was a beast. I loved the third row seating lol.

I have a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo that was my daily driver from 2001-2009. I still have it for the time being. My current DD is a 2003 Audi S8, which is the best car I've ever driven.

Well, faster till around 80 I think. From 0-60 you shift twice in a WRX and 3 times in an Sti. Seems most people end up with a 5 to 5.3 second time. There's one article claiming 4.7 for the WRX but who knows. Either way, that's friggen fast for a $24k hatchback.

Yeah it'll take the 'vette 'till about 110-ish, then aerodynamics take over and soon I'm lookin' at taillights. :frown:

For what some of you guys have into your audio rig, you can build one of these. Makes a great winter project!

2000 Ford Ranger 4.0l 4x4. 111,500mi on the clock. Still have a year to pay on it (never get a 5 year loan on a used vehicle).

The basic kit is about $13K. You'll need to provide engine, trans, rear, brakes, tires. Cheapest way is to use a Mustang 5.0 or 4.6 donor. If you're resourceful, you can do it for under $20K if you can paint it yourself. For a little more, you can do a mild (420 HP) big block like I did. Car only weighs about 2300 lbs. complete, so even a stock Ford motor wil make this thing scream!

Here is a link to the manufacturer:

    http://www.factoryfive.com/

The company is awesome, with great support and they have many repeat customers. They have a forum with alot of great people, who love to help out fellow builders. About 7000 kits built, so you'd be surprised how many guys are probably right near you.

If interested, contact me and I'll give you the straight deal on my experience, what to expect, etc.

Thanks for the website. If I were to do it I would have to go with the GTM.

Sadly, I have had enough of wrenching on cars for awhile. In the past 2 years I have had the motor out of my gto once, tranny twice, rear end 4 times, along with countless other mechanical things I have had to do to it. Couple that with all the crap I did on my beater 96 gsr (now sold) and I decided I need a break.

Maybe one day I could take on a project like that...it would be fun for sure.

88 Ford Ranger 5 speed with 260k on it. No Major work has had to be done on it, but everything but the drivetrain is rusting apart.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Me - 99 Toyota Corolla with 215K+ miles and still getting 30+mpg
    Wife - 05 Nissan Altima 3.5SE with almost 80K

The Corolla is a piece but it gets great mileage and just has to get me back and forth to work each day and it's paid off!

Within the next month or two the Altima will be paid off and then we can start saving to replace the Corolla!

My baby is a 2006 Audi A4. I love it. Great for driving in any weather, and fun and very comfortable. I just got back from 2 weekend road trips to NC and back; driving this car makes long trips digestable...

My next car will be either an S4 or an RS4 depending on how well my finances are doing  I love Audis...
