PSW111 Subwoofer is VERY Quiet

I am using Onkyo TX-NR607 receiver along with polk RM87 surrounds and PSW111 Subwoofer. The speakers sound great, but the subwoofer is a very quiet even at Max volume on sub and receiver.
My connection is from receiver to LFE in on subwoofer via Monster THX cable.
I ran audessy setup twice with no improvement. I have manually adjust LFE level on the receiver as well - also to no avail.
I then hooked up an old SONY sub (previously part of a cheap HTIB) using the same cable and same receiver input. The bass was much fuller using this 10 year old sub.
Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but I also wonder if the Polk Sub is defective. Has anyone heard of similar problems?

Only thinkg that comes to mind is re-checking your settings.
Sub:
Start with the sub volume at half way and then turn the crossover all the way up. Phase at zero.
Reciever:
Ensure that your speakers are set to small and that they are crossed over between 80 and 100. Satelite may like 100 to 120 better, but it is up to your ears!
Do you have a y cord that you could try on the sub end of the hookup? It may help a little. -
Thanks for the reply. Center and front speakers are set to 120, surrounds 150. Crossover on sub is turned all the way up. With sub volume at 50%, no sound comes out! Even at max volume I need to put my ear next to the sub to hear anything.

Do you have the sub cable attached to the right hand line in input and the switch set to lfe? In the reciever is sub woofer set to "yes" or sub? -

You should not need the sub level at +12. Should be somewhere around 3 or 4 depending on where your volume level is on the sub.
Not sure what to say, I am out of suggestions.
There is definitely something wrong somewhere, hope you can figure it out.
Is it a brand new sub or new to you? Do you have another sub cable or rca cable you could try on the sub? -

Setting your speakers to large won't solve anything at this point. When you hooked up your old sub and found that it worked, that's enough to show that something is wrong with your Polk sub. The amp is most likely dead. If it was the woofer, you should be able to get some sound out of it even if it's distorted. Hopefully you purchased the sub from an authorized dealer and still have the receipt. Give Polk a call and they'll get you up and running.Display: Sony 42" LCD

psw 111 is a very moderately powered sub, try placing it in a corner faceing outward, speaker placement is crucial. Make sure ur single rca is plugged in to "sub Woofer Out" your receiver, also sub woofer in on youre sub.

Look at the pictures in the booklet. I am having the same problem. The speaker gets power, if I turn volume all the way up, and turn my soundbar off, I can hear music coming through, so there definitely is a signal getting to the subwoofer. I checked the fuse, and it is good. Seems like there is something else definitely wrong with the subwoofer. I plan to post on the other forum, but let me know if you ever found a solution.

I'm also having this problem. I bought my subwoofer from Crutchfield.com, and after some time on the phone with them troubleshooting, they agreed the problem was likely a bad amp, and they're exchanging the sub for a new one.
I was very careful with my tests. I have two subwoofers and two receivers I could test with to eliminate the possibility the problem was somewhere else. My connections were correct (RCA cable from sub out on receiver to LFE in on the PSW111), I had the subwoofer low-pass filter turned all the way up to the LFE setting, I had the volume all the way up. On the receiver I had the subwoofer enabled and cranked the level as far as it would let me, +12db. With everything maxed out, I could hear the signal from the sub, but it was very quiet. Same problem with the 2nd receiver, same problem when swapping the cable out, and no problem when connecting the other subwoofer.
Hopefully the new sub solves the problem. I bought a whole set of Polk speakers for a 7.1 setup last year, and I'm very happy with them. Bummer about the sub, but these things happen.
