Hey guys, just curious on the opinions or experiences if anyones used in ceiling speakers and mounted them in the side walls of a home theater for a 7.1 set up. I know its kind of a lame question, but I'm redoing my HT room and I wanna pre wire the side walls for the speakers if it works. Right now I'm using them as rears in the ceiling, but I want to get a set of tsi200's for the rears (would love the 300's but no room).

Let me know what you guys think. If its stupid, if you have different ideas. Anything goes. Thanks!

No In ceiling speakers will not work in the side walls. They mostly are deeper then the walls anyway. They will look stupid. Buy In wall speakers and call it a day.

I know their thicker, Im having the walls furred out from the original walls anyways, so Ill have more then enough space in the wall. The only thing that would looks weird is that their round and not rectangular. I just wanted to know if they would even stay in the wall, and if the sound would be decent.

But thanks for the advice ha

the only difference between in-wall and in-ceiling is that one is round and one is rectangular. And the in-wall is shallower to fit into most installs but you already mentioned the depth wont be a prob. So if your ok with the look, no reason not to do it :).

(don't forget to factor that many of the better in-ceiling speakers are angled)

Ya the ones I have you can adjust where you want it to point, which is kinda nice.
