tonyb, what will happen if I move them further out?

It should widen the sound stage a bit. Right now you are probably getting reflections from the side walls being only inches away.

Your rig looks very nice, and I like the doberman too! Looking at the blending-in in photo #2, his/her name seems like it should be "Ninja"

Nice rig! I had the RTi A3s for a while and liked them, but sold them to get my hands on some LSi7s. As far as break-in goes, I just plugged them in and played them like normal. They only got better and better as time went on. If you're playing them every day, the way they sound after about a month is pretty much how it's gonna sound for forever... until you start reading the DIY/Mod section...

I use a Sony ES 5300 as a pre/pro. Before I got my Emotiva XPA 5 its was powering Monitor 70,s a CSIA4,and a couple of pairs of FXI3,s as rear&side surrounds, it has loads of power, only when I moved to an LSI front sound stage, that I added the Emotiva XPA5

I don't believe in speaker break-in, but if I did I would say its over when you stop smelling wood glue.

To the OP, which SVS speakers did you have? What are your thoughts on their sound? I've never heard anything but their subs, so I was curious as to your thoughts on their speakers.

Measure any driver's T/S parameters fresh out of the box and then measure it again after 200 hours of playtime. You'll start believing pretty quick.

JimAckley, the SVS speakers that I have are SCS-01's L/C/R, and SBS-01's for rears. The sound stage is great and the sound is very neutral. I upgraded to the RTi A line because I had the upgrade bug and I wanted floor-standing speakers up front. Comparatively the RTi A's are much brighter and have a great punchy mid that I didn't even know I was missing. I am definitely happy I made the switch, the SVS are a good speaker but now that I've heard the RTi A's in the same room that I had the SVS speakers in running off the same avr there is no doubt the RTi A's are superior to my ears for home theater, and for audio which I run in 5 channel stereo.

For everyone that suggested that I move the speakers out a bit past the edge of the wall I will give it a shot tonight and report back with my findings, I appreciate the info, as I want the setup to sound as good as I can, I'm not too sure if I can get away with wall treatments, the big tube sub took a few weeks and a few dinners to get warmed over with my better half as it is.

I love the RTi A line, just have to take a little treble out of the EQ.
