Can you remove the axial leads from a fuse?

I accidentally ordered some 5 X 20mm ceramic fuses with the axial leads on the ends. I am wondering if it's possible to remove the axial ends from the fuse? I know you can cut the wire off, but how about actually removing the little caps that the wires are attached to as well? I tried using needlenose pliers and twisting, but they didn't seem to budge. Anyone can help with this?

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Short of cutting them off, I don't think you can make them clean. I think the solder would remove the fuse / wire in the glass of the fuse.

OK, thanks for the reply Joe. I will just cut the ends off then. I'm sure they'll work ok. It's just a "test" fuse before I actually put the "HiFi Tuning Silverstar" fuse in there anyway.

Jesse, when I say end caps I mean the second set of caps. The fuses have the "normal" end caps and then the axial lead fuses have a second end cap with the wire leads sticking out of them. Does that make sense? I am not looking to remove the silver plated end caps that the internal wire in the fuse is connected to, just the outer end caps with the external wires coming off of them. I have attached a picure, but it's pretty crappyt quality. It's the style on the right. There is a cap on the end caps (if that makes sense). Wondering if you can remove this.

    Funky dude.

I've never seen one of those before, no idea if you can remove the ends or not.

I don't know if the manufacturer used a mechanical or solder bond for the end caps, but I think it's safe to assume that they didn't mean for the caps to be removable and that the fuse would probably be destroyed in the removal process.

I have never heard of anyone attempting this.

Thanks for the input DK. I cannot tell if they are soldered on or if they are really well fastened to the end caps (mechanical). But, they are difficult to get off, or impossible as you said without destroying the fuse.
