Firefox 4 is pretty sweet. I like the interface and haven't had many issues. I've been using it since beta 10 and can't really complain. I think it's on its final beta right now

At this stage, it's very stable... I haven't really had any issues. Its been my primary browser, and I haven't had to stop using it for any reason.
-
It didn't play nice with a lot of my add-ons, so I reverted.

Ive tried it and it seems pretty solid but Im rolling with Chrome 10 Beta right now and really liking it so Im not getting to Firefox 4 much lately.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Just curious, but why do you like chrome? -
I have always liked its layout. Nice, clean and simple. I really like the combination search and address bar. I know its the height of laziness since all you have to do is move the mouse a couple inches further on Firefox, but my little brain likes simplicity.
Firefox had the edge in add ons but now Chrome has most of them too. Adblock now actually blocks the ads from downloading as opposed to the old way it did which was just hide them after they downloaded. This defeated the whole purpose of blocking them which was to speed up web pages. Screen Capture is also something I use a lot. I pay every bill I have online so its nice and simple for me to clip the confirmation section after paying and dropping it in My Documents. I like that much better than having to print out a receipt every time. And lastly, Chrome now has very cool themes available.
Firefox used to have the edge in compatibility but lately Ive noticed everything seems to work just fine on Chrome and Im not having to go to Firefox or IE to get something to work, even with the Beta Im on now.
So Chrome has the best layout, the fastest speeds and now the add ons and its a tie for compatibility.
Dont get me wrong, I think theyre both superb browsers and far beyond any of the others, I just prefer Chrome a little more. Ill still pop over and use Firefox for a few months just for a change of scenery but I always wind up back with Chrome.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

It's funny you mention that, as far back as I can remember, firefox and IE both have had the same thing. It's just google labeled it as such, now people think it's new
As for screen capture, right click> save as has always worked for me... or Print to XPS writer/PDF
Thing I hate about chrome is it does not have the a place for you to put your most visited pages... like just below the address bar... I have club polk, demonoid, my school stuff. -

Buh? I have the latest non-beta of both IE and Firefox, and both of them have separate boxes for search and address.
So unless "as far back as you can remember" is "some untold future event," I don't think you know what he / you're talking about. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

Idk about your setup, but I can just type search terms into my FF browser address box, and I get results from Google, same as if I use the separate search box. How long it's been like that, I can't recall.
Just tried it with IE, and it worked there, too. -
Hmm. It's true that that works... I wonder why they bother putting a separate search box in the upper right??? Why not just clean up the interface like Chrome did and do away with the superfluous box entirely?
I always use keyboard shortcuts (on both Firefox and Chrome, CTL-L brings you to the location bar, and CTRL-K brings you to the search box) so I don't even think about where I'm typing things, I just know it's doing the right thing. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

You mean bookmarks? Chrome has that...and its nothing new...

I set the search box to wikipedia and use the address box for google. It's all in what you're used to, really. -

Yes, you have both, but the address bar also performs searches. I believe they put them both there because people didn't understand you can do this. Also, the one on the right can easily be switched to different search engines. Searching from your address bar worked as far back as i can remember....before IE 5exalted512 wrote: »You mean bookmarks? Chrome has that...and its nothing new...

You can do that with Chrome as well. -
I see people using Firefox but I don't understand whats better then Safari?
Someone give me the rundown , maybe I should download it and try it out.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
...the main reason Firefox is so popular is for security reasons. Back in the day everyone switched over to Firefox. Now most browser are secure but I never had a problem , so no reason to change. I installed Firefox Beta a couple of days ago and I believe it is a lot faster on my old Dell Pentium 4 - 3.2ghz. Keeps getting better.
-
....does anyone know if there is a way to open the search box in a new window or tab on firefox?
-
Basically at this point I think its all a matter of which interface you like best. These days theyre all pretty much equal in terms of features, performance and add ons. About the only differences that I can see anyway are in looms and layout.
IE9 looks very promising. If they ever get a real time spell checker and fix that wicked memory leak, I could see myself using it most of the time.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Ah, so if you set your search bar to something other than Google, address bar "searches" still go to Google? Interesting. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

I never knew that. I just opened up IE8 and you aint kidding, typing "Polk Audio" in the address bar opens up a Bing search page.
Firefox doesnt though. Typing "Polk Audio" in just opens up Polk's home page. I typed in "portable dvd players" and it just opened up Amazon's home page.As for screen capture, right click> save as has always worked for me... or Print to XPS writer/PDF
The thing I like about ScreenGrab or Screen Capture is that you can crop it down and only save the portion you want then save it to your file all in one step. I like easy.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

I really liked chrome due to its simple functional layout and speed, but certain websites lock up or do not function correctly (most importantly for me is blackboard which operates a lot on the user side using cookies I guess...). Also used to crash a lot so I stopped using it except once in a while for certain things I have bookmarked there. FF is the most consistent for me, but I do miss the speed of chrome a bit...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Right now I'm using Firefox. The latest installment of IE has started using pop up ads with no way to stop them. They also eliminated the search bar over on the right.
Setting up Firefox was painless, I just had to search around until I found the tools to increase the font size.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -

CTL-+ (technically CTL-= since you don't have to hit shift) to increase, CTL-- to decrease, CTL-0 to go to default works pretty reliably across browsers. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
