Ya, I know.. not DVD.. not 5.1.. or 6.1 or more...

But when it comes to story and pure entertainment... I think it is still hard to beat Empire Strikes Back, even in DPL and VHS fullscreen (I own the 'originals'). The stories here are just so solid... so entertaining.. so fun.

I own AOTC... but the story isn't as good... and I think "One" doesn't have much to recommend it. Frankly, the actor kid as a baby Darth Vader is enough to keep me from buying it. (what the hell happened to the superb casting of the 'middle' 3??)

Anyway.. I know this is pure opinion...

I agree they're entertaining......and look forward to when they're released on DVD at some point. I don't even watch them because they're actually on VHS, but all good. The original three, weren't the 'middle' though.....they were the end.

The past Ep1 and Ep 2 junk that is *star wars* has been completely LAME! I have seen the old series, and the newer versions hold NOTHING tot he older ones...my opinion...
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

There is suppost to be a 7,8,9 someday but it will be when Lucas has the confidence that it can be made his way and profitable. I agree I want to see 4,5,6 on DVD. Perhaps the special edition with dts . Ah but to dream. At least we are getting Indiana in a few weeks. :D

Last I'd heard was that it was a 'possibility' that he was going to sit down and write any other episodes. Have those been written?

Side note: Anyone seen anything about James Earl Jones in a while? I haven't seen him in anything for a while.....

They will be released on DVD after all the pre-quals are out of the theatres and on DVD. I thought they said 2006-2008. I could be wrong.

There was talk about 7,8, and 9 way back in the day. They where support to make them.....then they decided to go back in time....cool nonetheless.

Only True Star Wars fans don't kick ep1 and 2.It's all about the story not how it compare to the first 3.

    I can't wait for EP3.

I remember reading Rolling Stone (Star Wars cover) back in 1977, in the interview George said that there was to be three trilogies.
I wonder if Rolling Stone archives their old articles on their website?

    Mantis,

I agree that if you are a Star Wars fan, EP1 and EP2 are fine. We all are waiting for EP3 to see Anakin become Darth Vadar. As for EP7, 8 &9 I hope we do not have to wait another generation but that is a possibility. 2020????????????????????

That is pure ****. Don't be so pretentious as to decide how one must think or what one must believe to be *any*thing. I saw the original Star Wars in a huge old theater about a week after its original release, and have been a great fan ever since. I said it was about the story. The story itself, the characters, the conflict... I've never met a Star Wars fan who didn't have a favorite, or who didn't have a least favorite, or thought one was particularly weak, or strong, of either the original 3 or the 5.

Last I heard, 7-9 are wirtten, but 1-3 have been modified to tell the complete story and 7-9 will not be done. What more is there to really tell anyway?

    I enjoyed 1 & 2, good story with sub-par acting.

    Peace Out~:D

I agree 100% with what you're saying, but it also works the other way around. All I hear about is how Ep. 1 & 2 suck, blah blah blah!

It's what, more than 20 years later?....So much has changed. Those 2 movies couldn't possibly have the impact the first 3 did, but that doesn't make these 2 horrible. They are what they are. I took them for what they were at face value and had fun with it.

Please note I wasn't disagreeing with you burdette...I'm just trying to make my point. Since I hear so much bashing of the pre-quals.

I'm about 99.9% confident the original trilogy...at LEAST "A New Hope (Episode IV) " is already on DVD with all the remastering and surround sound encoding complete...but that it is simply not being shown to the public.

I was in HiFi Buys a while back (Tweeter to most of you) and watched the Scene with the Millenium Flacon in the asteroid field on a demo Klipsh system. It was amazing. Great picture quality, great sound quality. It was on a demo disc...a THX demo disc I do believe.

Now come one...who actually believes they just did "that part". I'd wager its all done and locked up somewhere waiting for "the right time". If the rest of the films are done as well as that demo sequence...I can't wait!

I have a LD box set of the remastered trilogy. It has the 5.1 DD sound. I am told that it is the only way to get 5.1 outside of the Lucas films studio. It does sound amazing. I'm pretty sure this is where the demo discs are getting their clips. I have been told only 20k copys of the box set were made. Until the DVD comes out this is as close as it gets to the ultimate SW experience.

    Ron,

You are seem to be in the know. Any comments on the THX demo disk and a future release of the original trilogy?

I am in asia now and you can't even find a bad boot leg copy.
